Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: I will help you inherit the family

Alexander pointed at himself, then instinctively raised his voice. Denis nodded, his expression earnest as he explained.

"Exactly. You are the grandson of Mr. Knight, but when you were a child, you were sabotaged by the Knight family's rivals, kidnapped, and abandoned in an orphanage."

"In recent years, under Mr. Knight's orders, I have been tirelessly searching for any trace of you."

"Finally, only now have I been able to confirm your true identity."

Perhaps out of excitement, Denis spoke more than usual. Yet Alexander still carried a guarded look.

"How can you be so sure about this? What if you've mistaken me?"

Denis shook his head.

"There can be no mistake."

To gain Alexander's trust, he added.

"From childhood, did you wear a jade pendant, engraved with your name, Alexander Knight?"

Denis's question left Alexander stunned. He pulled out the jade pendant hidden deep beneath his collar and blinked.

"Do you mean this?"

That piece of jade, he had been wearing it ever since he was abandoned at the orphanage gates. The caretakers there had noticed it and kept the name for him, instructing him to always carry it close.

Perhaps, one day, it might help him find his family again.

Denis's eyes lit up the moment he saw it, nodding in delight.

"Yes. Exactly that."

"Mr. Knight, our master has one just like it. Allow me to take you home."

"Once we reach the Knight estate, everything will become clear."

Perhaps it was Denis's sincerity, or perhaps because he truly had nothing left to lose, Alexander chose to believe him. He followed Denis into the black Range Rover.

The car sped swiftly along the wide road, while Denis, hands steady on the wheel, began to speak of the current state of the Knight family.

"At present, your grandfather, Mr. Knight, personally manages Starluxe Entertainment, a multibillion-dollar entertainment conglomerate in this country."

Alexander's jaw nearly dropped in astonishment. Of course, he had heard of it from Isabella.

It was an immensely powerful and renowned entertainment corporation that Isabella had always dreamed of signing with, but never succeeded in doing so.

Seeing Alexander only nod silently, Denis went on.

"And there's more. Your parents passed away two years ago in a car accident. You have only one half-brother, Ryder Knight, but your grandfather does not recognize his status."

"So rest assured, your position as heir is unshaken."

Alexander nodded, committing the words to memory. At that very moment, the car rolled to a stop before the gates of the Knight estate.

The lavish scene before him left Alexander momentarily speechless.

The white mansion stood like a towering castle, magnificent and luxurious, built in the neoclassical style.

The iron gate, painted white, was opened by the servants, revealing a vast courtyard. Servants lined up on both sides, bowing respectfully.

Denis drove the car inside, and Alexander saw the road paved with lavish marble, flanked by rare and costly flowers, many of which he did not even recognize.

The car stopped before the grand main mansion, its white marble pillars gleaming in all their splendor. Every line of architecture was refined, exuding an extravagant display of power.

Denis deferentially opened the car door and led Alexander into the mansion. Golden light spilled down from crystal chandeliers, dazzling his eyes, while the interior was adorned with intricate antique decorations.

On the leather sofa in the center of the living room sat an elderly man with silver-white hair. His posture was perfectly straight, radiating dignity and authority.

His face, usually stern and sharp, now carried a gentler, warmer expression.

When he saw Alexander, his eyes turned red with emotion, and his voice grew slightly hoarse.

"Alexander Knight, you are Alexander, aren't you?"

"Sit down!"

Alexander slowly sat down beside William, his gaze still somewhat dazed, unable to believe this was real. William looked at him with affection from head to toe, smiling kindly.

"There's no mistake. Your eyes, this shape of the lips, this bridge of the nose… they belong to the Knight bloodline."

"The grandchild who has been lost for so many years, at last, Denis has found you. Good, very good…"

The wrinkled hand trembled slightly as it gently stroked Alexander's hair, William's eyes blinking rapidly.

For some reason, even though this was the very first time Alexander had met William, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

In that moment, his heart trembled, tightening with emotion.

"Grandfather, are you truly my grandfather?"

Alexander blinked, asking again, his voice unsteady with feeling.

William tenderly pulled Alexander into his embrace, passing his warmth to him.

"Yes, I am your grandfather, and the one who has searched for you all these years."

William's eyes glistened with emotion, turning red as he held Alexander tightly.

Alexander slowly returned the embrace, his heart filling to the brim.

Who would have thought,

after drifting through so many years of hardship,

bearing every kind of humiliation,

he would still be reunited with his family.

William, overcome with emotion, held Alexander close as he recounted stories Alexander had never heard before.

From how he had been kidnapped by the enemies of the family, to the countless hardships William endured while searching for him all these years.

He even showed Alexander a jade pendant identical in design to the one Alexander had always worn, except this one bore William's name engraved upon it.

Afterward, William reminded Denis to collect a strand of Alexander's hair for a DNA test, to be matched against the preserved sample of his late father's.

Seeing Alexander's bewildered expression, he gave a faint reassuring smile.

"Do not worry. I have already acknowledged you as my grandson."

"But the DNA test is necessary to legitimize your position as heir, and to silence any outside speculation."

In the face of rumors in the business world, William was long accustomed. Alexander nodded, following all his arrangements without objection.

Then, after Denis had left, William began to ask in detail about Alexander's life in recent years. Alexander spoke honestly, but when he mentioned how he had been scorned by the Hart family for his poverty and treated as worthless, William slammed the table in fury.

His voice turned as sharp as a blade.

"Outrageous. That impoverished Hart family dared to look down on my grandson?"

"A pack of vile, disgusting creatures! Utterly contemptible!"
