Are all humans so hateful? So cruel towards animals and humans they deem insignificant?
One kicked me away saying I was a bad omen, the other nearly crashed into me and then came saying 'Shoo, don't block the road!'
Although it was some cat instincts that led me to act on it, I totally don't regret running my claws across the man's face. Hmph!
I struggled to bear with my weak body and get up but at this moment, the car door opened again. Did that man come again to shoo me?
Suddenly, darkness enveloped me as someone crouched in front of me.
When I looked up, my breath was knocked straight out of my chest.
An angel!
I gulped. In 24 years of my life, I have met some decent-looking men and of course, seen some on shows.
But nobody came close to this man standing in front of me. Even though he wasn't smiling, there seemed to be an angelic aura around him.
Not only that, he was not shooing me away. Instead, he was observing me. Is he checking if I am injured? Shall I show him the few scratches I got?
All of a sudden, a hand grabbed my tail and my body was lifted up in the air.
'Zzzz'
I hissed instinctively and dug my nails into the man's neat collar.
My claws itched to scratch him but my mind raced. This man seemed half-decent and somewhat not lacking money. I don't know what has happened to me.
To figure things out, I need to eat something and have a roof above my head. If that requires me to do something against my instincts, then why not?
The moment I reached the conclusion, I clung to the man with all my might, digging my claws into his suit.
"Behave," his low voice rumbled.
'Heh' I snickered in my mind, finding it a little funny. Did this guy think a cat would understand his threats?
Alas, as the situation would have it, I can understand him because I am a human originally.
"Young Master, you can't take the kitten with you. It's dirty right now, and will pose threats to your health…"
I spotted the man from earlier approaching the man.
Young Master? I blinked, curious of the man's identity but inwardly, my mind raced again. If he decided to leave me behind then I would have to make other plans.
But at that moment, I felt myself floating in the air.
The man started walking and got inside the car.
The other guy also got in, visibly terrified and confused, "Young Master, where…"
"To the hospital."
Half an hour later, I found myself in a private hospital.
After a series of examinations, the vet declared, "Sir, your kitten is healthy, although she seems a little malnourished. Her body has some external injuries. Here, I have prescribed the medications and made the register for your pet's visit."
As the doctor spoke, he turned a small book towards the man.
"You only need to fill the sections that need your pet's name and your name."
The word 'pet' got on my nerves. I glared at the doctor and a hiss slipped past my mouth.
"Behave," A warm palm settled on my back this time.
I held in my grievances and stayed still on the man's forearm.
"Doctor, you are mistaken. This kitten is not ours," Kevin spoke up.
But in the next moment, his young master lifted the pen.
I watched as his fingers paused momentarily before writing in the 'pet's name' section: Jade
And then came the 'pet parent' section: Killian Volkov
Fireworks erupted in my brain. My entire body shuddered.
Killian Volkov. Killian Volkov? I have become my sworn enemy's pet?
I turned around and glanced at Killian. Killian looked down at me.
My claws itched and my body reacted before I could. One second,
I was sitting warmly on his forearm and in the next moment, I was flying in the air, claws extended towards his 'angelic' face!

"Then where is our money?"
The question cut through the office like a blade.
For a moment, no one responded.
The man behind the desk didn't even look up. He sat reclined in his chair, one leg crossed over the other, lazily scrolling through his phone as if I didn't exist.
My fingers curled into fists.
"You publicly announced donations to orphanages across the country," I continued, my voice steady despite the storm raging inside me. "Hope Orphanage is on that list. So I'll ask again… where is the money?"
A man passing by snorted.
"Miss, it's past midnight," he said, grinning as others chuckled. "Shouldn't you be asleep instead of causing trouble?"
Laughter spread across the room.
I turned my head just enough to look at him.
"If being loud is what it takes to be heard," I said coldly, "then I don't mind disturbing your sleep."
The laughter died down.
Finally, the man behind the desk looked up.
Annoyance flickered across his face as he picked up a cigarette and lit it.
"You can file a complaint if you want," he said, exhaling smoke slowly, "We're just a branch office."
My brows furrowed.
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"If you want answers," he leaned back, voice turning careless, "go to the headquarters."
My heartbeat slowed.
"…Headquarters?"
Another man stepped closer, clearly enjoying this.
"Looks like you really don't know anything," he said, "Those donations were the Chairman's idea."
He paused and looked at me as if gauging my expressions.
"But now," he smirked, "his grandson is back from abroad and has taken over the position of the CEO."
Something about his tone made my stomach tighten.
"All decisions now go through him."
"Then who do I talk to?" I asked.
The man smiled.
"Killian Volkov."
