Chapter 208 - Chapter 208: Valthior: I’m Writing Garp’s Story, Not Slandering Him!

On the sea not far from Savila Island, the Oro Jackson was sailing forward.

On the deck, Valthior sat on a chair with a notebook in one hand and a fountain pen in the other. Sometimes he lowered his head in thought, and sometimes he wrote a few lines, clearly working on something.

Just then, Spencer walked past behind him and glanced at the notebook in his hand.

"Garp's grades in middle school were not very good…" Spencer read softly.

That one sentence immediately caught his attention. He had originally planned to go to the edge of the deck and enjoy the sea breeze, but now he stopped and asked in confusion, "You know about Garp's past? He even went to school? I thought the rumors said he grew up in the mountains like a wild man."

Valthior had been too focused and had not noticed someone behind him. Spencer's voice startled him, and he quickly closed the notebook with a guilty look. "Walking without making a sound—are you trying to scare me to death?"

"Blame Sphinx for keeping the deck too well maintained," Spencer replied, then asked, "What are you doing?"

"Ahem. As a man of culture, I naturally need to have culture, and I also need to create things. Lincoln said before that we are spending money too quickly. Even though we still have plenty of funds on paper, I am also thinking of ways to earn more. Not long ago, the World Economy News Paper opened a serialized writing section, so I want to try writing something and submit it," Valthior said with a righteous expression.

Spencer looked at the two words on the cover of Valthior's notebook, Young Garp, then rubbed his chin.

"So you plan to write a story about the youth of Marine hero Vice Admiral Garp? I did not expect you to respect him so much, considering the two of you start fighting every time you meet."

"Ahem…" Valthior cleared his throat with some embarrassment. "It is just creative writing. In truth, I am only borrowing Garp's name. I made it all up and do not know anything about his past."

"Is that so?" Spencer nodded, then seemed to remember something. A wicked smile appeared on his face. "Speaking of that, half a year ago, two very exciting character books spread through the underworld. They were said to be written by someone called 'No Umbrella.' They were also about Marine officers, but they were very absurd. I heard Sengoku and Zephyr were furious…"

Doringo happened to walk over at that moment. When he heard this, he also showed a knowing grin and said, "Ah, I read those too. They were really exciting. Wasn't it Marine Gatekeeper Zephyr and Sengoku Is No Ordinary Man? They spread like wildfire across the sea…"

Valthior wore a stiff smile and said, "Really? I did not notice. I will look for copies when I have time…"

"I have them in my room. I will bring them to you later," Doringo said casually.

Valthior froze for a moment. Who else could have written those two damn books? Of course, it was him during his idle, boring days back on Frost Island!

As for the content, how could he not know it? And if those two books fell into men's hands, what would they be used for? He could guess with his toes.

So Valthior refused with a serious face.

"Forget it. Keep them for yourself. I am a clean person…"

Doringo did not think too much about it and walked away.

Spencer, however, looked at Valthior with suspicion and said, "That guilty look on your face and those words… Tsk, tsk. You clearly read them alone in your room before, didn't you? You know what is written inside, right?"

Before Valthior could speak, Spencer suddenly realized something. He grabbed the notebook and said, "First Sengoku and Zephyr, and now Garp. Don't tell me you wrote those books? Let me see your pen name…"

As he spoke, he opened the first page. Then he looked regretful.

"Not you. I thought you were the one who did it. I heard Sengoku placed a two-hundred-million-Berry bounty in the underworld to find the author of those two books. I thought I could trade you for the money…"

Valthior took a deep breath and acted calm. "I do not know what you are talking about."

In truth, he had also heard not long ago that Sengoku had become furious and placed a bounty in the underworld, so this time he had secretly changed his pen name.

For this manuscript, his pen name was "Lord Roger."

"But you really are wicked. Using that as your pen name? If Garp sees it, he will probably search the whole world for Captain Roger's hiding place…" Spencer laughed.

"What are you saying? I am writing a proper book. I am giving him a heroic story, not slandering him. Garp might even be happy after reading it…" Valthior said, pretending to stay calm.

"Even if there is only a beginning, what kind of proper book has its first chapter named The Landlady? You think I will believe you?" Spencer said with contempt.

Valthior was just about to say something, but he suddenly sensed something. He turned sharply toward the sea and said, "Did you feel that?"

"Do not change the subject. Feel what?" Spencer asked in confusion as he followed Valthior's gaze.

"The temperature. The temperature of the sea has dropped a little," Valthior said softly as he looked at the water.

Spencer's cheek twitched twice. He tightened the collar of his fur coat and said, "Feel my ass. It is already freezing on this ship. The temperature dropped? I think you are just making excuses…"

But at that moment, Sphinx suddenly leaned out from the lookout platform at the top of the mast. Her indigo twin ponytails fluttered in the wind as she called out, "Hey, hey, I can see Savila Island at the edge of the sea. But it looks strange. It seems to have turned into a winter island. Even the seawater around it has frozen…"

Spencer froze for a moment and looked at Valthior. "You really felt the change?"

"Of course. My ability is very sensitive to changes in temperature," Valthior said with a nod. "Looks like something unexpected happened. Sunbell, make the Oro Jackson go faster!"

Sunbell, who was steering the ship, froze for a moment before cursing, "You really are treating me like a sea mule, aren't you?"

"Hahaha, I'm counting on you!" Valthior laughed shamelessly.

Sunbell cursed under his breath, but his body was honest. He soon walked to the anchor winch and loosened it. Then he grabbed the chain and wrapped it around himself. Before long, he had tied the anchor chain around his body and jumped straight into the sea.

The Fish-Man strongman engine began to move. The chain instantly tightened, pulling the Oro Jackson forward with a sudden burst of speed toward Savila Island.

"Next time we go to Fish-Man Island, I am going to ask some of my people how to train sea beasts. Then I will not have to pull the ship myself…" Sunbell shouted as he leaped out of the sea and dove back in.

"Then you need to ask how to tame Sea Kings, because we will soon be changing to a giant warship," Spencer said with a loud laugh.

"If I knew how to do that, I might as well call myself the Sea King," Sunbell said, completely speechless.

The Fish-Men did have techniques for training sea beasts, but training Sea Kings was another matter entirely.

"Why make it so hard? Just go to Water 7 and buy two giant Bull creatures, and the problem is solved," Doringo suddenly said.

The others froze for a moment, then all looked at Doringo.

"That actually makes sense."

"You finally used your brain."

"I did not expect you to be anything other than an idiot."

Doringo gritted his teeth as he listened to them. "Is that really how I look in your eyes?"

Before everyone could keep teasing him, two waves of Conqueror's Haki suddenly clashed and roared across the sea from far away.

Right after that, the sea, which had been calm moments ago, became wild and violent. Stirred by the clash of Conqueror's Haki, the clouds in the sky began to sink, blocking the sunlight and turning the sky dark.

Large amounts of seawater surged, gathered, and piled up. The rough waves gradually became a huge tsunami, spreading in every direction from Savila Island.

Valthior stood up as well and looked at the white line slowly drawing closer at the edge of the sea.

That was the wave of the tsunami.

"A clash of Conqueror's Haki…" Spencer swallowed and said.

"One of them is clearly weaker, but the other one really brings back memories," Valthior said softly.

Even without seeing the person, Valthior could recognize that terrifying Conqueror's Haki, the kind that felt as if it could destroy everything and allow no equal.

It belonged to that bastard Garp.

"Garp!" Spencer said directly.

As old members of the Roger Pirates, Spencer and Valthior could recognize whose Haki it was. Even Shanks and Buggy could tell.

"I have long heard that Chinjao and Garp have a long grudge between them. Looks like it is true," Rengar said with a hand on his chin.

"Are they rivals?" Bartholomew Kuma asked curiously.

Spencer laughed loudly and said, "Chinjao is not worthy of being called Garp's rival. In the old days, Garp beat him up many times. But that guy has a special background, so he was pulled out of Marine prisons again and again."

"Sunbell, faster! Do not let Garp steal our target!" Valthior shouted.

Although he had no personal grudge with Chinjao, the conflict had already been set. More importantly, Valthior still needed to get the location of the Jewel Ice Sheet from Chinjao. He could not let Garp capture the man.

"Following a captain like you is the worst luck of my life!" Sunbell cursed, but still took a deep breath and silently began speeding up.
