Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Architect’s Backdoor

Han emerged from behind the waterfall, the Living Fractal tattoo on his arm pulsing with a cold, rhythmic hunger. The night air felt different now—less like a mystical realm and more like a simulation programmed to keep him trapped.

[COUNTDOWN TO PURGE: 47:12:05]

The golden numbers flickered at the edge of his vision, a constant reminder that the very system giving him power was also his executioner.

"System," Han whispered, moving through the underbrush with a speed that would have been impossible two hours ago. "If I'm a 'Glitch,' how do I stop the update?"

[ANALYSIS...]

Condition: To halt the 'Purge Protocol,' the Host must acquire [Admin Access: Level 1].

Location: The Sect Leader's Private Study—specifically, the "Jade Throne" which serves as a disguised terminal.

Warning: You are Level 7. Sect Leader Su Zhen is Level 45 (Gold Core Realm).

Probability of Success: 0.04%

"Zero point zero four," Han smirked, his boots barely touching the grass as he utilized a low-power version of Void-Step. "Those are the best odds I've had all night."

As he approached the Outer Disciple quarters, he saw the smoke.

His shack—the small, broken home where he had first woken up—was a pillar of orange flame. Standing in the courtyard were a dozen disciples, but they weren't the low-level bullies like Wei. These were Inner Disciples, led by a man in dark violet robes.

[TARGET DETECTED]

Name: Senior Brother Feng

Level: 18 (Foundation Establishment - Middle)

Status: Searching for "The Black Shard."

"He's not here!" one of the disciples shouted, kicking the charred remains of Han's bedroll. "The trash must have fled into the mountains!"

Feng narrowed his eyes, his hand resting on a heavy broadsword that hummed with lightning Qi. "The Guild scouts didn't return. If that cripple killed them, he's no longer just trash. He's a thief who stole the Sect's 'Foundational Essence.' Find him. Kill him on sight."

Han watched from the shadows of a massive banyan tree. He could feel the Living Fractal on his arm twitching. It wanted to feed.

[NEW QUEST: THE INVISIBLE GHOST]

Objective: Reach the Sect Leader's Hall without being detected by the search parties.

Bonus: If you kill Senior Brother Feng silently, receive the skill: [Shadow-Cloak].

Reward: 1,200 EXP, 2x Mid-Grade Qi Pills.

Han looked at Feng. A Level 18 opponent was a mountain compared to his Level 7. But Han had something Feng didn't: Logic Manipulation.

He picked up a small stone and infused it with a tiny drop of the "Liquid Metal" from his tattoo.

"System," Han whispered. "Set a Causality Delay on this stone. Impact sound... thirty seconds from now."

[DELAY SET]

Han tossed the stone far to the left, toward the Sect's Armory. Then, he began to move.

10... 20... 29...

CRASH.

The sound of a heavy metal door being smashed echoed through the quiet night.

"There! The Armory!" Feng roared, his lightning-clad feet blurring as he led the pack away from Han's position.

But Han didn't run away. He ran straight at Feng's back

As the Senior Brother trailed behind his subordinates, Han executed a perfect Void-Step. He didn't appear behind Feng; he appeared above him.

The Living Fractal flowed from his arm, forming a needle-thin rapier of obsidian liquid.

"Critical Hit Logic: Applied," Han thought.

The blade pierced through the back of Feng's neck, sliding between the vertebrae with surgical precision. Because of the Fractal's "Data Eater" property, it absorbed the lightning Qi before it could explode in an alarm.

Feng's eyes went wide. He didn't even get to scream. His body turned into a dry husk as the sword drank his Level 18 cultivation in a single, violent gulp.

[EXP GAINED: 2,500!]

[LEVEL UP! LEVEL UP! LEVEL UP!]

[NEW SKILL UNLOCKED: Shadow-Cloak]

Current Level: 10.

Living Fractal Evolution: 15% Complete.

Note: You have consumed a "Lightning-Type" soul. Your attacks now deal +5% Shock Damage.

Han didn't stay to admire the corpse. He activated [Shadow-Cloak], his body turning into a translucent smudge against the night, and sprinted toward the High Citadel.

The countdown was ticking.

[46:45:12]

He reached the Great Hall, a massive structure of jade and white stone. At the very top, behind three layers of guards and a Level 45 Sect Leader, sat the "Jade Throne"—the terminal that could save his life.

"System," Han muttered as he scaled the sheer outer wall using his liquid blade as a climbing pick. "Prepare to hack the world."

(Next Chapter Preview: Inside the Hall, Han discovers that the Sect Leader's Daughter, Su Yan, isn't who she claims to be. She's not a cultivator—she's a System Moderator.)
