Chapter 3 - C-3

[—Now viewing your characters biography]

[— 8 Months before the zombie plague started terrorising the world, you found yourself fresh out of college, in the midst of chaos and was somehow able to survive long enough to be rescued by a band of superpowered individuals who led you and many more to one of the last human sanctuaries left in New York.

Using your skills obtained through years of study, you found yourself being one of the scientists trying aimlessly to find a cure for the zombie virus, through grit and determination you managed to ascend through the ranks and become a head scientist of your own lab unit.

Now, you find yourself on your first day as a head scientist, with an entire squad of scientists at you heel ready to do all that you desire.]

Immediately as I read through the entire text I felt the world shift, not even being allowed the brief satisfaction of obtaining a rank in status in this world that I wouldn't have to slave myself for.

[—Marvel Online - Gems of Infinity is online, do you wish to log in?]

Looking through the text I agreed, there wasn't anything left for me to do here so I might as well become one of the first players in the game.

[—Ding!]

[— Transferring player into Character!]

Was all I saw before my consciousness left me.

The next thing that I remembered, I was in a lab, looking at papers as a lifetime of memories streamed into my head and I found myself knowing everything that had to do with my character, Jason Ark.

Funny that my own name was Jason Maximilian, the game doing shitall to hide my identity thoroughly it seems.

But I didn't care, for now I looked at the papers infront of me that showed my first ordered assignment.

The sanctuary that I was under seemingly put a job on me on my first day as head scientist, if he went by his predecessors memories then he knew that this was a test.

To see whether he was fit for his position or not.

But after finishing reading the documents it fully I couldn't help it.

" What the fuck?" I blurted out as I saw my first assignment.

[—Quest Acquired!

—The Widow's Bite.

— Description - Black Widow, a highly renowned spy has somehow gotten contaminated with the zombie virus but due to the timely intervention of a mutant, was able to be sustained in a cryogenic slumber which slowed her corruption.

You have been tasked with the task to find anyway to save her life.

—Reward - Advanced Class Certificate, +3 Levels, 1,000 Store Points.

—Ding! Note- Failure of this mission will still allow you to obtain rewards, depending on how much you tried achieving the mission and how close to success you were.]

Well, atleast it seems the system wasn't counting on me to actually succeed but knowing that even if I did, I'd still be compensated had me grinning.

But first I focused on the corner of my eye where a bell icon had been softly humming as if to get my attention, as soon as I focused on it, it reacted.

[—Game Note - All stats are randomised, but all initial stats will lean towards your first classes primary stats.]

'Oh?' I mumbled as I stared at my stats, though not having a basis on the average mirked me a bit.

Alongside not knowing what Rank 2 besides my class meant or the F besides my race.

But I ignored that and swiped left on my class, I'd investigate the average in this world when I had a foothold into this world.

[—Class - High Genetic Scientist.

— Increases Int by 2, Wis by 2 and Per by 1 each level up.

— Grants 5 Skill Points every 5 levels.

—Grants a 100% Boost to all genetic science actions.]

Whistling to myself at the boosts I grinned, atleast it wasn't a shitty class and I should probably see what those skill points did.

So swiping the screen to the left I was met with my skills.

[—Skills—]

—Skill Points - 1

—[—]—

[—Game Note - Due to rank of your class, your skills will start at a higher level than most players to show your rank.]

I smiled at the note at the note, having obtained another unfair advantage.

Another thing of note was that I instinctually knew everything about my skills, heck I had years upon years of genetic research knowledge seemingly swimming at the back of my head ready to be utilised to the best of my capabilities.

I knew how to activate my active skills and how they would work, everything felt intuitive and since I didn't start at level 1 in my skills that meant I was even more capable of utilising them.

Though there was one thing that I was still confused about. The letters besides my skills, ranks.

I didn't know what they meant and I was provided no information on it too, I guess that was one mystery that I would need to find out on my own.

So after I finished looking through the skills I tried a plethora of other ways to see whether there was no other function I had.

Sadly though there was none, besides a tab that showed me all my active quests.

So, finally done with that I continued to look around the lab I was in.

It wasn't bad looking, probably not the most advanced as some equipment looked as if they were brought in here from somewhere else in a hurry.

Though it was spacious enough that I'd be able to walk freely and a conduct experiments of my own.

But talking about experiments, I had a widow to study.

" Dr Ark." A voice brought me out of my musing.

Looking back at the door where a woman, wearing a purple combat suit that looked more like a strippers attire than anything was looking at me, she had a bow and quiver on her back and looked at me with a frown.

' What did I do now?—And also, is that Kate Bishop?'
