Iris's POV
I'm late again.
It doesn't bother me anymore. No matter how fast I run, I'm still late.
For a second, I felt like someone was watching me.
I turned slightly… but no one was looking.
Strange.
I soon reached my class.
"May I come in, Miss?" I asked, interrupting her lesson.
"Oh, Iris… welcome back. I thought you might be studying early for the periodic tests," my teacher said.
Periodic tests.
Who will tell her I was too lazy to even open my books?
"Sorry, Miss, I came late—"
"There is no need to apologise, child. You might be busy. Go sit and listen."
I had no choice but to make my way to my seat....
"Busy? Or you were stalking the entrance of your prince charming?" The girl beside me—my so-called best friend—murmured in my ear.
"What nonsense! My cycle betrayed me. I really need to save some money and buy a new one," I whispered back, slightly irritated… though my cheeks warmed up.
I opened my notebook and looked at the board.
"Why is she teaching rotational motion? I thought we would start electrostatics," I asked Anya.
"She needs to repeat important topics. Obviously she'll teach them twice or thrice," she replied.
Okay… she's actually focused.
I pulled out some practice sheets and started solving questions. My lips kept twitching unconsciously.
"What are you thinking?" Anya nudged me.
"Nothing. When is this class going to end?" I asked.
"The class hasn't even started properly. Don't rush. Your prince charming won't write the exam for you," she said.
Who says I don't have parents?
I have one sitting right beside me.

Kaizer's POV
If only I had been a little earlier.
Right now, we were standing outside the classroom as punishment for being late.
Honestly… it was quieter here.
When I entered the class earlier, the sudden buzz of thoughts made it impossible to even hear the teacher.
"It's all because of you… now I have to stand here embarrassing myself in front of passersby," Lux muttered, clearly annoyed.
He may seem like an easy-going idiot, but he cares a lot about his grades and image.
No wonder he's in the top ten.
"Hey, Luxy… sorry, bro. My fault," I said.
He just shrugged.
Soon, the period ended and we were finally allowed to enter.
I took a seat in the corner. Lux had to sit further away since the seating was already fixed.
What does he think of himself—
He came today—
Wait, he chose science? He can't handle it—
Oh no, I forgot—
These students are so noisy—
Soon, the teacher entered.
Physics.
Great.
I didn't even know what we were going to study. I hoped they would go easy since it was the first day.
They did the exact opposite.
The noise never stopped.
I just need one place… where it's quiet.
"Mr. Kaizer!"
I snapped back.
"Yes, sir—" I stood up.
"What 'sir'? Where are you lost? You've already skipped part of the syllabus and now you don't even want to focus on the rest?" he scolded.
He surely wasted time—
Good—
God, please make him stop—
That thought pulled my attention.
It was Lux.
"Sorry, sir. It won't happen again," I said, lowering my head.
"Meet me after class."
To be honest, I couldn't understand anything he was teaching. And except for two or three students, no one else could either.
Everyone was just staring at the clock.
"Students, that's all for today. I want to inform you about the upcoming school council elections. Some of your seniors will be participating, and you all will vote. Choose wisely."
And again—
that flood of thoughts.
I will vote for—
Oh god, not this again—
These papers never end—
I should vote for senior Iris—
"Hey bro! Why weren't you paying attention? Anyway… I'm going to vote for Sister Iris. She'll be the best school president," Lux said, coming over.
I didn't respond.
My eyes drifted toward the window, where the senior block was visible from afar.
Somewhere in that building…
she was there.
And for the first time—
I wanted to hear someone's thoughts.
But hers…
were completely silent.
