Chapter 1 - The Girl Who Watched the Sky

The village woke up slowly, like a sleepy child stretching after a long nap. Birds chirped softly, and the golden sunlight slipped through the narrow lanes, touching every rooftop gently.

But on one terrace, someone had already been awake for hours.

Aanya stood there, her eyes fixed on the sky.

She wasn't like the other girls in her village. While they laughed, played, and dreamed of weddings and festivals, Aanya dreamed of something else—something far beyond the fields, beyond the hills… beyond the sky itself.

"Aanya!" her mother's voice called from downstairs. "Kitni der se upar khadi ho? Come down, breakfast is ready!"

Aanya didn't respond immediately. She was busy watching a plane cutting through the sky, leaving a white trail behind it.

"Ek din…" she whispered softly, "main bhi upar jaungi."

Finally, she turned and ran downstairs, her braid bouncing behind her.

Inside, her mother was already annoyed. "Tumhe pata hai na, ghar ke kaam bhi important hote hain? Sapne dekhna achha hai, lekin zameen par rehna bhi zaroori hai."

Aanya smiled quietly and sat down. "Maa, agar koi upar udna chahe, toh kya woh galat hai?"

Her mother paused for a moment, then sighed. "Galat nahi hai… par mushkil zaroor hai."

Aanya's eyes sparkled. "Mujhe mushkil se dar nahi lagta."

At that moment, her father entered the room, holding an old newspaper. "Aanya," he said, "school ke baad yeh dekhna. Science exhibition ka notice hai."

Aanya almost jumped with excitement. "Sach?!"

Her father nodded, smiling faintly. "Haan, lekin jeetna aasaan nahi hoga."

Aanya took the paper carefully, as if it were something precious. "Main try karungi, Baba. Main zaroor try karungi."

As the day began, no one knew that this small moment—this simple newspaper—would change Aanya's life forever.

Because sometimes, the biggest journeys begin with the smallest steps.

And Aanya?

She had just taken her first one.
