Riley's POV
The morning sunlight filtering through my bedroom curtains pulls me from sleep, and for the first time in a while, I actually feel rested. My mind immediately drifts to what transpired last night, and my cheeks burn with the memory. That kiss came out of nowhere, catching me completely off guard.
When Caleb said he wanted to be my first and last kiss, what exactly did he mean by that? The rational part of my brain keeps reminding me that somewhere out there, his destined mate exists. If he thinks I'm going to settle for being some temporary distraction while he waits for her, he's got another thing coming.
I make my way downstairs, my thoughts ping-ponging between elation and frustration over that unexpected moment we shared. The kitchen smells like heaven when I enter, and I can't help but smile despite my internal turmoil.
