Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE

The Resonance Tour

The "Resonance" tour was an unprecedented success. When Elara Vance walked onto the stage, it was as if she were stepping out of a void. The "Stardust Gown"—as the press instantly named it—became iconic. It was simple, a column of deep navy silk that seemed to drink the intense stage lighting, only to re-release it as thousands of pulsing, dancing points of light.

It didn't make her look tragic. It made her look like she was composed entirely of cosmic dust.

Behind the scenes, the tour was a machine. Gabriel was its most vital part, though he remained hidden. He was with Elara every night, making minor adjustments to the gown, ensuring the silk draped perfectly. He became her shadow.

While Claudia Vance was managing the brand, the interviews, and the record sales, Gabriel was managing the person. He became the only one who could handle her pre-show anxiety attacks, the only one who didn't ask her to "perform" when the cameras weren't rolling.

"Gabe," she'd whispered in a dark backstage corner in Chicago, "I can't do this tonight. My voice... it's not there."

He didn't offer empty platitudes about how she was the voice of a generation. He instead brought her a small vial of his own concoction: a blend of honey and a rare flower extract he used for dyeing delicate fabrics. "Drink this. It tastes terrible, but it works."

She drank it, making a face. "It tastes like dirt."

"Silk comes from worms, Elara. The most beautiful things are often built from dust."

Their love was a quiet, private creation, born in the liminal spaces between shows. They loved each other in empty dressing rooms, on tour buses speeding through the night, and in hotel rooms that smelled of antiseptic. It was a love that had to be as invisible as Gabriel's role in her life.

Claudia was aware of Gabriel, of course, but she dismissed him as a phase, a temporary obsession. "He's a distraction, Elara. A necessary one, perhaps, for your performance. But don't forget who you are. Stardust, not silk."
