Chapter 16 - The one who dominates

The canteen was frozen in uneasy silence. Every student had instinctively stepped back, instinctively aware that something far beyond normal tension radiated from Aiden's corner. Kael, still seated opposite him, tried to keep his usual smirk, but the shifting aura around Aiden—golden-red, pulsing like a living heartbeat—made him falter.

Aiden leaned forward slightly, just enough for his smirk to deepen. His voice, calm and measured, carried through the tense air.

"You think your words mean anything?" he said softly, but every student heard it clearly. "Do you think you scare me with arrogance?"

Kael's jaw tightened. "…I… I wasn't—"

Aiden tilted his head, eyes glimmering faintly, and the Primordial consciousness inside him stirred, coiling like a shadowy predator. The aura pulsed subtly, but every pulse carried weight, pressure, a subtle force that pressed against Kael's senses.

"You are weak," Aiden continued, voice calm, unhurried. "Worthless. You rely on the attention of others, and yet you have nothing to back it up. Not strength, not skill… not even control over yourself."

The air around Kael seemed to constrict, and the students could see the change in him. His face paled, and his legs trembled slightly under the table. Sweat beaded on his forehead, though no one could explain why—the cafeteria was not warm.

Aiden's aura pulsed again, ever so slightly stronger, and the subtle, oppressive pressure pressed deeper into Kael's mind, into his confidence.

"You called me weak," Aiden said, leaning back slightly now, still seated, still unarmed, still calm. "But the truth…" He let the words linger. "…is that you are the weak one. And you've just realized it."

Kael's hands gripped the edge of the table, knuckles white. A faint tremor ran through his body. The laughter he had expected from his peers turned to awkward silence, then a few stifled gasps as students instinctively sensed the danger in the air.

Aiden's eyes glinted, golden-red flickers barely visible, and the Primordial whispered softly inside him: Let him feel it. Let him understand the predator he's awakened.

Kael's face twitched. He tried to laugh, to recover, but the weight of Aiden's presence, the quiet dominance of his aura, was unbearable. His legs shook uncontrollably. His face burned. His stomach churned in a panic he had never felt before.

And then it happened.

Kael's composure shattered completely. The humiliation, the fear, the recognition of his own weakness under Aiden's gaze, overwhelmed him. A tiny, mortifying warmth spread down his legs.

The faintest, almost imperceptible smell drifted. A few students noticed, stifled shocked gasps, but most were too frozen by the tension radiating from Aiden to react fully.

Kael's face drained of color, and his usual arrogance dissolved entirely. He could not speak. He could not move. He could only stare, wide-eyed, at Aiden.

"You…" Kael whispered, voice trembling, "…you didn't even… move."

Aiden's smirk widened, calm as the eye of a storm. "I didn't need to. You already lost."

The canteen remained utterly silent. Even the strongest boys near the front of the room shifted uncomfortably in their seats, realizing how completely Kael had been undone without a single spell, without a single strike.

The five girls watched in quiet awe, exchanging glances.

"Did… did he just…?" Lyra whispered.

"Elara shook her head slightly. "He didn't touch him. He didn't even fight. And yet… Kael is completely humiliated. And terrified."

Seris's eyes were sharp. "It's more than fear. It's recognition. He just realized there's something about Aiden he can't even touch—can't even begin to comprehend."

Mira whispered, "…and the thing inside him… it's awake, isn't it?"

Nyx's expression was grim. "…Yes. And Kael just became its first victim."

Kael, still frozen, tried to rise, to recover dignity, but every glance at Aiden's calm, unshakable presence made his legs buckle again. His arrogance had completely evaporated, replaced by raw, helpless fear.

Aiden leaned back slightly, smirk never leaving his face, aura still pulsing faintly, and thought quietly to himself: Predator does not need to strike to dominate.

And with that, the canteen slowly began to stir again—but every eye remained on Aiden. Some out of awe, some out of fear, all silently acknowledging: the boy in the corner was no ordinary student.

Even Kael would never forget this day.

Even if he lived through it

The lunchtime chaos gradually resumed, though a hushed tension lingered around Aiden's corner. Whispers circulated quietly through the canteen, some students still too stunned to eat, others stealing cautious glances at the boy who had humiliated Kael without moving a muscle.

At the far end of the hall, sitting in the elevated seat reserved for dignitaries and student council members, the Student Council President observed the scene.

She was no ordinary student. A princess of the realm, the heiress to the kingdom itself, and widely regarded as a woman of unsurpassed beauty, intellect, and authority. Her silver-blonde hair shimmered under the afternoon light, and her deep violet eyes were sharp and calculating, yet today they softened slightly as they rested on the boy in the corner.

Aiden.

Her lips curved into a faint, almost imperceptible smile. She tilted her head slightly, observing him as he sat calmly, smirking faintly at the crumpled, terrified Kael. Even from a distance, she could sense it—the aura around him. The subtle pulse of power, something ancient and immense, far beyond mortal comprehension.

What is that…? she thought, her brow furrowing ever so slightly. It's… not just strength. Not just magic. It's… something primordial.

The student council president leaned forward, resting her chin lightly on her hand, gaze fixed entirely on him. The thoughts that came to her were dangerous, reckless even—but impossible to ignore.

So pretty… so calm… and yet… so terrifying.

Her pulse quickened without her realizing it. She had never felt this before—not from fear, not from excitement. But something about Aiden resonated deep inside her, stirring an unfamiliar desire.

He's… perfect.

Her lips pressed together slightly. Powerful enough to destroy nations… intelligent enough to dominate every challenge… and yet… restrained, patient…

She could sense the Primordial consciousness coiled within him, a force that even the gods would hesitate to face. It pulsed faintly, acknowledging her, subtly stirring like a predator testing the wind.

Yes… that is exactly what I need. she thought, almost breathlessly. Someone who can match me. Who can protect me… who can dominate with me. Who can… be mine.

The words in her mind were almost shocking to her own ears, but she could not deny them. She had seen countless men—noble, strong, clever—but none had stirred her like this. None had the combination of beauty, intelligence, and terrifying, unrestrained power.

Her violet eyes glimmered with decision. I will have him.

Her voice was barely a whisper, carried only to herself. "Aiden… you will be mine."

Far below, the aura around Aiden pulsed slightly, faintly resonant. Inside, the Primordial consciousness stirred, aware of the new presence in the hall, the princess watching him. It acknowledged her recognition and… amusement flickered in its awareness.

Interesting, it whispered softly inside his mind. Another who senses what I am… another who desires me…

Aiden's lips curved slightly, though no one near him could have noticed. So… someone wants me, he thought calmly. Good. Let's see how far she is willing to go.

The princess, still seated in the elevated box, leaned back slightly, her heartbeat racing. She was no stranger to ambition or desire, yet she had never felt such certainty about a single person in her life.

He is the first being worthy of me, she thought quietly, almost reverently. The first one I would consider… my equal. My husband. My partner… and my king.

Meanwhile, in the corner of the canteen, Aiden remained outwardly calm. But beneath his composed exterior, the Primordial stirred, intrigued by this new player in the game—someone who recognized the predator within him and did not flee in fear.

This one… the ancient consciousness whispered. She might be interesting.

And with that, the canteen buzzed quietly around them, but a silent game of power, recognition, and desire had just begun between two of the Academy's most formidable beings—and only one of them had fully awakened.
