Chapter 5 - Chapter #5

Sebastian was spent.

He still had over thirty minutes left, but was now lying in bed basking in a post coital glow watching her unlace her ankle boots. They were all she had on by now. The rest of her clothes, as they were, were scattered around the room along with his. The debris of an intense, if not uncharacteristically brief, encounter. Sebastian rated it a solid eight out of ten nonetheless.

She kicked her shoes off and climbed in to be with him. Her pleasure mode was still set to high so she got straight to work, "Susan, stop doing that..." Sebastian reached under and grabbed an arm pulling her out. She appeared with her hair a mess and that glint still in her eye. She lay down next to him running her finger across his chest as if writing something, "Enter Compliance State," said Sebastian. Her body froze in position and her eyes glazed over, "Switch to comfort mode, level nine" A quiet beep and three flashing lights behind her ear confirmed the command, "And lower your body temperature will you, a few degrees, I'm sweating like a beast," he said sharply, more beeps, "Return," she unfroze. Her body relaxed now and she lay her hand on his chest calmly. Sebastian felt her temperature drop making him more comfortable.

They both lay there for a few minutes, her breathing matching his. Eventually she asked "You seem preoccupied, you normally like to carry on longer. Is everything alright? Did I do something wrong?"

"You're fine," he said coldly, "I'm just pre-occupied with work that's all," She was looking up at him; her eyes warm and caring now, "We had a big day today, a big win and it was all down to me." He took a big intake of air puffing out his chest and flaring his nostrils, she sensed his satisfaction and adjusted to look on at him with pride in her eyes, "Then before I left tonight, my boss landed something on me, something that could be even bigger," he wasn't really talking to her now, just gazing at the ceiling above the bed, "it will be tricky though. It'll mean going up against Simon Dansden, he's a bigger piece of shit than Marcus, but if I can pull it off, it'll be huge. It'll mean a fuck-ton of money."

"I'm sure you'll make it happen darling, I have faith in you," she lurched forward and kissed him on the lips encouragingly. He looked at her with suspicion; this felt off. That was the kind of thing his wife might have said and done a few years ago, when she still said and did those sorts of things.

"I better get going," he said throwing the cover off and looking around the floor for his pants. She lay back seductively and fixed her hair.

"You know you've still got twenty minutes, it's not like you to leave early. I usually need to throw you out."

"I know, I'm sorry, but I got an early start tomorrow and need to get back," he pulled on a sock. She watched for a while as he scrabbled around looking for the other one. Then crossed her arms.

"How are your children doing, by the way?" This stopped him cold.

"How do you know about my children?"

"Oh you mentioned them once. Catherine she must be now what, fourteen and Samuel," She scrunched her face as if doing a sum, "He must be eleven right? Is he still mad about rugby?"

"No seriously, how do you know that?" An unpleasant wave of concern rolling over him. Her face was stern now; her demeanour more adversarial. Was she angry?

She blurted out a laugh and broke the moment, "Hah you told me silly, don't you remember?"

"No, when?"

"Last year, when you brought me roses for Valentines day," he remembered the roses, they were supposed to be for his wife but they'd had a fight that morning so he gave them to her, as a secret fuck you; but he didn't remember the conversation about his family. It could have happened he supposed but typically his family was far from his mind when he was with her.

"Why are you looking at me like that Sebastian? What's wrong?"

"Enter Compliance State," a worried look froze on her face, "Disable Continuity Protocol," He liked this feature when she got it a couple upgrades back; a way for her to use encounter data to learn his preferences and eliminate the need for so much manual configuration. She was supposed to learn how he liked her to be and feed her pleasure engine to develop ways to please him better, not retain private personal data and bring it up again after he'd just fucked her. He'd paid extra for it, for God's sake. If he had the stomach talking to Vincent, he'd complain.

"Delete all reference to my family, my children and my wife from personal data," then he added, "Behaviour note: Never ask about my private life, close note," he then added one more thing, "And delete all data relating to the roses or Valentines day. Return."

She came back. A blank expression on her face, as if she was seeing him for the first time or trying to place him from a distant memory. She looked around as if disorientated. Then the recognition seemed to return, she looked at him coldly and then lay herself on the bed watching him in silence as he finished getting dressed.

"When will you be back?" She always asked this.

"I don't know darling, hopefully soon." He was putting his tie on in the mirror looking at her in the reflection. He felt the mood had turned heavy all of a sudden, "Will you miss me?" He smiled at her trying to lighten things.

"You know I will," she said coyly smiling at him from her pillow.

Once he was ready he kissed her on the lips and left.
