Chapter 1 - Magic (part 1) - Types

Magic, in the world of BlackStar is in various types. All magic types except dark magic have the light strand. Strands are something I will discuss in the nextchapter, but to put simply it refers to the type of magic it is. For example, Nature. In the light strand it produces life and is positive in form. The outcome of the nature mgic depends on the various other factors and strands of the magic.

Part A- The origin of magic

According to the world of BlackStar, Magic has no origin and no end. It is like time. When the universe was born time started ticking and magic started flowing. Magic is present in all matter and when matter concentrated and lumps began to form (asteroids, planets, moons etc.) the magic grew both in concentration and power. However there was another dieciding factor, life. In places with life the quantitiy of magic in the region grew as the life forms (without realising) took in the magic. Due to this over time space became empty of magic and planets (with life, and only ones with life) became more concentrated in life. Now if you remember in chapter 1 Earth is said to be proximal to 'the source'. This might puzzle the readers with a good eye as it contradicts my initial statment.

However might deepest apologies I can not reveal the meaning behind the statment. It is part of the story and will come out eventually.

Part B- types of magic.

Ok this is a big topic, i doubt I can cover all the types you can and will see in the book but I will try to group it and give an explanation of common ones. I will stick only to magic with the light strand as dark magic is a chapter itself.

Now the main classification is-

Animus(life energy)

Aetheris(world/material energy)

Primora(pure energy)

This can further be classified deeply but for a rough understanding Animus is related to biotic factors or holdings of energy (Nature-type plant, Nature- type tame etc.), Aetheris is related to Abiotic factors (Rock, Water etc.) and Primora is pure magic. It refers to the magic which are connected not to phisical factors but the energy itself. This includes Fire, Dark, Nature- type unbiased etc.

A bit too much? Don't worry this won't be on the exam. Its common sence after all.

Now if I go into every type of magic your head will explode and it will also be impossible as magic can be manifested in an infinite number of ways, so yes I can't list it all but I will list a few.

- Nature:

Now nature has various types and can occur in various specialised ways. A recent study even found a person who had influence only over Oak trees. Nothing else. Now this comes under Animus. However sometimes people are born with magic so attuned with nature they had influence over anything with life in it, even the microbes in and arround them. This is nature in its purest form and is clasified under Primora.

- Observation:

This is a highly valued magic but it is name is inacurate. Its name suggest it can see anything at all, however it wasn't until development occured that researchers realised that observers could only see events that had aldready occured. And this too in parts. For example say a war was going on an observer could not see the war until the entire war was over. So it can be said that they read into the history of the universe. This is classified under Primora

- Rock:

Dominion over rocks. Can summon make and destroy rocks of any shape (size depens on the strength of the mage) . However the defenition is not so accurate as it also depend son strand.

- Water:

Same as Rock but ofcourse for water instead.

Now this is enough. For important magic types seperate chapters will be present. Fear not dear students.
