A few days had passed.
Lukas hummed to himself as he worked, moving between the counter and the stove as he cooked.
This wasn't his first time cooking here, but the place still felt unfamiliar. It was familiar enough though, for him to know where every utensil he needed was kept. He simply kept reaching for other places out of habit.
He looked up from what he was cooking and couldn't help but note once again that the kitchen was bright.
That was the first thing he'd noticed about it and the thing he still hadn't gotten used to.
Tall windows ran along the eastern wall, and morning light came through them in wide, clean bars, spilling across the counters and the pale stone floor.
The apartment in the city had been comfortable, but it had been enclosed, its windows opening onto other buildings and the noise of the street below, but this place was different.
