Morgana pushed open the door to the room, and Lukas could tell that it had changed.
Melody stood beside the bed exactly where Lukas had left her hours ago, still holding Akira's hand, but her posture was different now.
She'd straightened, her shoulders drawn back, and when she turned to the opening door, her eyes were bright with something that hadn't been there before.
Hope.
It was fragile, like it could be taken away aty any moment, but Lukas wouldn't mistake it for anything else.
"They brought everything," she said, her voice cracking slightly. "Lukas, they brought everything."
He walked across the room to her and put a hand on her back.
Along the left wall, a stack of boxes had been arranged in careful rows. Some were plain wood, others banded in dull metal, and a few were sealed with wax stamped in colors Lukas didn't recognize.
