Chapter 12 - 12 The Cycle Restored

As the battle spilled into the city streets, Don Fernando watched in horror as Master Lao's dark energy began to wither trees and crack pavement. Miguel, meanwhile, moved with purpose—each strike of his power healing the damage as he went.

"Don Fernando!" Miguel called out, even as he dodged another attack. "The tablet—the symbol on it! It's the key to binding corrupt energy. Help me activate it!"

The wealthy lord didn't hesitate. He ran to Miguel's side, placing his hand on the clay tablet as Miguel activated his ring and necklace. Together, they chanted the words from the book, their voices joining as one.

A wave of golden light spread out from the tablet, washing over Master Lao and trapping his dark energy. Instead of destroying him, the light began to purify the corruption, slowly restoring his true form.

"I... what have I done?" Master Lao whispered, falling to his knees as the darkness faded from his eyes. "I wanted power so badly that I forgot why I became a cultivator in the first place—to help people."

As the light spread through the city, Miguel felt the Grand Cycle he had built on the mountain connect to a new cycle forming in the heart of Iloilo. The air grew cleaner, flowers bloomed in cracked sidewalks, and people stepped out of their homes with wonder on their faces.

Don Fernando looked at his city, then at Miguel. "You were right. I've been measuring wealth the wrong way my entire life."

"Then help us build something better," Miguel said, extending his hand. "A community where balance is the true measure of power."

The wealthy lord took his hand, and in that moment, the ring on Miguel's finger glowed bright, the necklace pulsed warm, and the Book of Life Cycles opened to a new page—one that had been blank before, now filled with words of hope and possibility.
