Chapter 197: The Final Farewell (End)
The Service Club received another request, and it was Yukino who accepted it. Isshiki Iroha wanted to hold a Prom, but there was a massive obstacle in her way. During this period, Akishin met Yukino's mother for the first time, the wife of Yukinoshita Ryuichi—a woman who appeared elegant on the surface but was actually incredibly dominant.
Even though her words were calm, she always positioned herself at the highest vantage point, having a penchant for pressing others down with moral values. Talking to her felt like facing a mountain of cotton; you couldn't punch through it, and it wouldn't budge an inch.
As the head of a family, such a dominant personality was clearly a prerequisite. Furthermore, Akishin had heard Ryuichi-kun mention before that this dominant nature only formed after she took over the household leadership.
Perhaps in the future, Yukinoshita Haruno would end up just like this as well. Haruno also made an appearance, supposedly there to help her younger sister. Ever since Yukino had changed so much, Haruno rarely showed up in front of Hachiman and the other two.
Akishin didn't interfere in this particular matter. The difficulties Yukino faced were handled primarily by Hachiman and Shizuka. When dealing with Hachiman, Yukino's mother remained quite cordial.
The issue didn't drag on for long. Hachiman successfully convinced her mother, and the Prom was officially allowed to proceed, turning out to be a very lively and enjoyable event.
The Prom was filled almost entirely with students, while the only teachers present were Akishin and Shizuka. They danced a single song together under the cheers of everyone present.
Once the Prom concluded, Akishin and Shizuka also explained their resignation to everyone.
This marked the end of Hachiman's second year.
...
Hachiman, Yui, Yukino, Yuika, Kaiko, Mitsuha... Hiratsuka-sensei and I are heading out now. If you ever run into trouble or need anything at all, remember to come find us.
The golden sunlight filtered through the windows, illuminating the floor of the Service Club room. Everyone's faces looked somewhat blurry through the haze of the light. Akishin and Shizuka were each carrying a cardboard box filled with their belongings accumulated during their teaching tenure.
They had already said their goodbyes in each classroom; now, it was time to part ways with their inner circle.
Akishin looked at the students with a smile. During this year spent together, he had seen their brilliance. He hoped they would all have a beautiful future, and he truly believed they would.
Oh, by the way, this is our new address. During the holidays, feel free to drop by and visit anytime. I'll be sure to use all twelve parts of my cooking skills to entertain you. Of course, if we have the time, we'll also be coming back to Chishima Diner quite often.
Akishin set his box down on the table, pulled out a postcard, and handed it to Hachiman. After leaving Sobu High, they were going to try and take over the Hiratsuka Group. That place was a bit far from Chishima Diner, so they had to move into a house in that area.
Also, the wedding between Shizuka and me is in a month. You guys have to come, okay? I'm asking all of you to be our bridesmaids and groomsmen, Akishin added with a grin.
Shizuka nodded, a happy smile gracing her lips as she unconsciously stroked the engagement ring on her finger.
Hachiman held the postcard, and though his expression remained neutral, he nodded with certainty. We'll definitely be there.
Yui wiped a stray tear from the corner of her eye, showing a beautiful smile. Chishima-sensei, Hiratsuka-sensei, congratulations to both of you. We'll definitely come when the time comes!
Yukino bowed deeply and formally, her voice filled with gratitude. Hiratsuka-sensei, Chishima-sensei, we've troubled you so much over this past year. Thank you truly for everything you've done for us. And Hiratsuka-sensei... thank you so much for your support since my first year.
Kondo Yuika narrowed her eyes, hiding the tears that were about to fall, and gave a faint smile. Sensei, Hiratsuka-sensei, thank you for all your help. It's because of you both that Kaiko and I were able to spend such a happy year. And, Chishima-sensei... thank you so much for everything.
Kaiko stepped forward and tugged on Akishin's sleeve. Sensei, are you really not going to open the shop again? Where else are we going to find a boss as great as you? Besides, after eating Sensei's cooking, I'm afraid I won't be able to eat anything made by other chefs, what am I supposed to do... ah! You already found a better job for us? Higher pay and more relaxed? I don't want it, I don't want another job! I still want to work at Chishima Diner~! Ouch! Ugh~ Yuika, you hit me again! I'm gonna get you back for that~!
Mitsuha stepped forward, pursing her lips slightly as she gave a short, polite bow. Chishima-sensei, Hiratsuka-sensei, thank you very much for your help all this time. When you get married, I will definitely be there.
When someone is walking forward, they usually don't look back at the distance they've traveled. However, for those who have stopped their pace, looking back at how far they've come often brings a realization that their expectations didn't quite match reality. Being able to see this scenery up close now was truly wonderful. Because a scene like this... it was impossible to keep watching forever.
Akishin and Shizuka shared a look, and then both let out a soft, cheerful laugh.
Well then, we're off. You all were our best students.
Goodbye, Sensei...
Hachiman! Shizuka suddenly looked at Hachiman with a smirk. Hachiman blinked in surprise and turned his head. Shizuka shouted at the top of her lungs, Go explode, you Normies!
Hahaha, you're the biggest Normie of them all now, Akishin laughed. Take good care of Yui, okay? And protect Yukino well too, or I won't let you off the hook...
