Blackwell Territory
The entire Blackwell Territory was in turmoil.
Three days had passed since the mysterious wave of power swept through the bloodline, yet its effects still lingered.
The overwhelming grief.
The unbearable pressure.
The pain that had reached into the very souls of every Blackwell.
Some had cried until there were no tears left.
Others had become angry, demanding answers from anyone who might have them.
And some simply remained silent.
No anger.
No tears.
No expression at all.
But every Blackwell understood one thing.
Something had changed.
Inside the main Council Chamber, the atmosphere was even heavier.
The Elders and members of the Blackwell family had gathered once again, trying to understand what they had experienced.
Silas stood among them, his expression cold and unreadable.
One of the family Elders finally looked toward him.
"That power is close," he said. "Closer than it was before."
Silas slowly raised his eyes.
"We need to know where the source is coming from," the Elder continued. "And more importantly… we need to know who it is."
Silence filled the chamber.
Silas remained quiet for several seconds.
"There is someone out there carrying the Queen's power," he finally said.
Several members of the Council exchanged uneasy glances.
"But I will investigate it myself," Silas continued. "Until I know exactly what we are dealing with, we cannot assume anything."
His eyes narrowed.
"It could be the same as before."
The head of the Blackwell family watched him carefully.
Silas turned toward him.
For a moment, neither man spoke.
Then Silas's expression hardened.
"As of now, you are still the head of this family."
The room became completely silent.
"But understand something."
Silas stepped closer.
"If there is truly someone out there carrying enough of the Queen's power to force the Blackwell bloodline to bow…"
His gaze became dangerously cold.
"…then your seat will no longer belong to you."
The family head's expression changed.
Silas didn't wait for an answer.
He turned and walked out of the Council Chamber.
The massive doors closed behind him.
No one spoke.
They didn't know who carried the Queen's power.
They didn't know where this person had come from.
But they knew enough.
Whoever the bearer was, they possessed enough of Queen Aurelia's power to reach across the bloodline.
Enough to make Blackwells weep.
Enough to bring them to their knees.
And if that power continued to grow…
the entire Blackwell family could change forever.
Meanwhile — Alaska Borderline
Three days had passed since the serpent attack.
Inside the protected camp, Rose remained under strict orders to rest.
The enormous amount of power she had used during the battle had taken a toll on her body. Although her strength was steadily returning, her teammates weren't taking any chances.
Outside the barrier, patrols continued.
Any enemy that approached was dealt with immediately.
The barrier was powerful enough to protect Rose while she recovered, but that wasn't enough for the others.
No one wanted anything getting close to her.
Irish checked on Rose regularly, making sure she was sleeping, eating, and actually allowing her body time to recover.
The others took turns patrolling the surrounding area.
Every day brought them closer to Blackwell Territory.
And everyone understood what that meant.
The enemies ahead would be stronger.
The battles would become more dangerous.
They needed Rose at her best.
Not exhausted.
Not barely standing.
And definitely not fighting for ten hours straight again.
As night settled over the camp, James quietly entered the area where Rose was resting.
Rose was awake, sitting up as the last traces of healing energy moved through her body.
James stopped near her.
"You okay?"
Rose looked over at him.
"I'm fine."
"You need anything?"
Rose stared at him for a moment before a small smile appeared on her face.
"You're a very caring guy, you know that?"
James chuckled.
"So I've been told."
Rose laughed softly.
For a moment, everything felt normal.
No war.
No Blackwells.
No Sea Kingdom.
Just two teammates talking.
But James had something else on his mind.
Sophia.
He wanted to ask Rose about her.
He wanted to know what Rose planned to do when they finally crossed paths again.
But every time he thought about asking, he remembered Claudette.
Her death.
Rose's grief.
And the terrifying power that had erupted from Rose afterward.
James decided this wasn't the right time.
"Get some more rest," he said instead. "We're getting closer to Blackwell Territory."
Rose raised an eyebrow.
"You guys do know I'm already recovered, right?"
James gave her a look.
"Yeah, we know."
"Then why is everybody treating me like I'm made of glass?"
"Because you're the most powerful person here."
Rose stared at him.
James continued before she could argue.
"And because being the most powerful doesn't mean you have to do everything yourself."
Her smile slowly faded.
Rose looked away.
She understood exactly what he meant.
James had seen her pushing herself harder and harder since Claudette died.
They all had.
"We just don't want you overdoing it again," he said quietly. "That's all."
Rose lowered her eyes.
"I know."
James nodded.
He turned toward the entrance before looking back at her one last time.
"I'll be up tonight keeping watch."
"James—"
"Get some sleep."
A small smile returned to her face.
"Good night."
"Good night, Rose."
James stepped outside.
The barrier shimmered briefly before settling again.
Rose remained awake for a few moments, staring toward the entrance.
Then she slowly lay back down.
Outside, James took his position beneath the dark Alaskan sky.
Beyond their camp stretched miles of dangerous territory.
And somewhere ahead of them…
was Blackwell Territory.
Blackwell Territory
Silas stopped walking.
Something pulled at him.
Not physically.
Something deeper.
Something connected to his blood.
His past.
Her.
Silas slowly turned toward Lucius.
Lucius had stopped too.
Their eyes met.
Neither man needed to ask.
They both felt it.
Then—
BOOM.
An invisible pressure crashed over Blackwell Territory.
Silas dropped instantly.
His hands slammed against the stone floor, his knees following a second later.
He tried to stand.
He couldn't.
Not even an inch.
It felt as though an enormous hand had descended from the heavens and forced his entire body toward the ground.
Across from him, Lucius was already on his hands and knees.
His face had gone pale.
Around the territory, members of the Blackwell bloodline suffered the same fate.
Some collapsed.
Some screamed.
Others simply fell to their knees, unable to resist the force pressing down upon them.
Silas gritted his teeth and tried to raise his head.
Then voices exploded through the mind link.
Silas!
Lucius!
The Elders.
But their voices were strained.
Some were gasping for air.
What is happening?!
The pressure—
I can't breathe!
It's getting stronger!
Silas didn't answer.
He couldn't.
Because he could feel what was buried inside the pressure.
Grief.
Rage.
Hatred.
Betrayal.
But there was something else.
Something directed specifically at him.
Recognition.
Silas froze.
His eyes widened.
For the first time, his cold expression broke.
"No…"
His fingers dug into the stone beneath him.
He knew that feeling.
He knew that hatred.
"You can feel me."
The pressure increased.
Silas's body slammed lower against the ground.
Then—
it disappeared.
All at once.
Silas sucked in a desperate breath.
Throughout Blackwell Territory, members of the bloodline gasped as the invisible force released them.
But no one celebrated.
No one moved.
Because that second wave had answered the question they had been asking for three days.
The Queen's power wasn't somewhere far away.
It was getting closer.
And this time, it felt almost like a warning.
She was coming.
Silas slowly pushed himself to his feet.
Lucius stared at him.
"Silas…"
"Let me go out there."
Lucius frowned.
Silas turned toward the direction from which the pressure had come.
His eyes darkened.
"I need to finish what I failed to finish before."
The mind link went silent.
Every Elder heard him.
Every Council member connected to the link heard him.
They knew exactly what he meant.
One of the Elders finally spoke.
We should evacuate the territory.
Another immediately agreed.
Move the younger bloodlines first.
Get everyone away from the main castle.
Silas ignored them.
His attention remained fixed on the border.
He had failed once.
He would not make the same mistake again.
Silas closed his eyes.
Dark energy began crawling across the ground beneath his feet.
It traveled outward like veins through the earth.
Through the forest.
Across the mountains.
Into the shadows surrounding Blackwell Territory.
Creatures bound to Silas's power began to stir.
Beasts lifted their heads.
Eyes opened inside dark caves.
Things hidden beneath the earth crawled toward the surface.
Silas sent one command through every connection.
Go.
Find the source.
Stop them before they reach the castle.
Across Blackwell Territory, creatures began moving toward the border.
Silas opened his eyes.
"Come then."
His voice was quiet.
Almost welcoming.
"Let me see who you really are."
Near Blackwell Territory
Rose suddenly grabbed her chest.
THUMP.
She gasped.
THUMP.
Her heartbeat accelerated so quickly that she could barely catch her breath.
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
Sweat rolled down her face.
"Calm down…"
Crimson flames flickered around her fingers.
Rose pressed her palm harder against her chest.
"Calm down."
But the heartbeat wasn't entirely hers.
Deep inside her soul, Aurelia was awake.
The closer Rose came to Blackwell Territory, the more Aurelia could feel them.
Her bloodline.
Every Blackwell.
Every Elder.
Every Council member.
Then—
Aurelia felt him.
Silas.
Rose's entire body stiffened.
A wave of emotion tore through her so violently that she nearly fell.
Hatred.
Not Rose's.
Aurelia's.
All of Aurelia's buried hatred exploded through their connection at once.
Rose stumbled backward.
"Whoa…"
The crimson flames around her surged.
"Please… calm down."
But Aurelia's emotions continued pouring through her.
Rose knew Silas had betrayed Aurelia.
She knew he had hurt her.
She knew Aurelia despised him.
But knowing something and feeling it were completely different.
This wasn't ordinary anger.
This was pain that had never healed.
Betrayal that had never been forgiven.
Fear buried beneath rage.
And hatred so deep that only one thought burned through their connection.
Kill him.
Rose's eyes flashed gold.
"No."
Her breathing became heavier.
"Not like this."
The flames rose higher.
Rose closed her eyes.
"Aurelia."
She placed both hands against her chest.
"I know you're angry."
Her voice softened.
"I know."
Slowly, Rose controlled her breathing.
"In…"
The flames trembled.
"Out…"
The pressure began to weaken.
"In…"
Her heartbeat slowed.
"Out…"
The crimson flames disappeared.
Rose opened her eyes.
"That's it."
She looked around.
The barrier remained intact.
Nothing had crossed it.
Yet.
But something had changed.
Rose could feel it.
They were close now.
Very close.
And after everything they had fought through to reach this point, one thought settled heavily inside her.
This was it.
Maybe one more battle.
One final push into Blackwell Territory.
Then maybe—
just maybe—
this war would finally be over.
Rose stared toward the distant darkness.
"At least… I hope so."
She turned toward her teammates.
"I'm going to sleep for a little while."
A few of them immediately looked at her.
Rose raised a hand.
"Don't start. I know."
That earned a few amused looks.
"I need my energy," she continued. "If this really is the last fight, I'm not walking into it exhausted."
No one argued with that.
Rose settled inside the protection of the barrier.
She closed her eyes.
And within minutes, sleep pulled her somewhere else entirely.
The Queen's Chamber
Rose opened her eyes.
Silence.
She immediately recognized the chamber.
But something felt wrong.
"Aurelia?"
No answer.
Rose walked farther inside.
"Aurelia?"
Still nothing.
Normally, she could feel the Queen's presence everywhere within this place.
Strong.
Warm.
Powerful.
But now…
it felt small.
Rose stopped.
There was someone sitting in the corner.
A child.
Rose stared.
The girl couldn't have been older than ten or twelve.
Her knees were pulled tightly against her chest, her face partially hidden behind long hair.
Rose slowly approached.
Then the girl lifted her head.
Rose froze.
Those eyes.
She knew those eyes.
"Aurelia?"
The little girl's lips trembled.
"Rose…"
Rose's heart sank.
She immediately crouched in front of her.
"Aurelia… what happened?"
The girl suddenly threw herself into Rose's arms.
Rose barely had time to react before Aurelia wrapped both arms around her.
"I can feel him."
Rose's expression changed.
Aurelia began to cry.
"He's close."
Her small hands tightened around Rose's clothes.
"I'm scared."
Rose wrapped her arms around her.
"Hey… I'm here."
"I don't want to go back."
"You won't."
"I don't want him to hurt me again."
"He won't."
Aurelia trembled against her.
Rose gently pulled back and looked into her eyes.
"Listen to me. No one is going to hurt you."
Aurelia sniffled.
"You're not going to leave me?"
Rose stared at her for a second.
Then smiled.
"I'm not going anywhere."
Aurelia's tears slowly stopped.
Rose studied the little face staring back at her.
Then she tilted her head.
"Oh my God."
Aurelia blinked.
"What?"
Rose's lips twitched.
"You're so cute."
Aurelia stared at her.
Rose tried to hold it in.
She really did.
But a laugh escaped.
Aurelia's mouth dropped open.
"That is not funny!"
That only made Rose laugh harder.
Then—
a tiny giggle escaped Aurelia.
Rose immediately pointed at her.
"See!"
"I did not laugh."
"You absolutely laughed."
"I did not!"
Another giggle betrayed her.
Golden light suddenly surrounded Aurelia.
Her small body began to change.
Rose watched as the frightened child disappeared and Aurelia returned to her adult form.
A young woman now stood before her.
Regal.
Beautiful.
Powerful.
And extremely annoyed.
Aurelia folded her arms.
"That was not funny."
Rose grinned.
"It was a little funny."
"Rose."
"Okay, okay."
The smile slowly faded from Rose's face.
Aurelia became serious.
"They know."
Rose's eyes sharpened.
"The Blackwells?"
Aurelia nodded.
"They know my power is close."
"Do they know it's me?"
"No."
Aurelia shook her head.
"Not yet."
Rose released a quiet breath.
"But Silas knows something is different," Aurelia continued.
At the mention of his name, her expression changed.
The frightened little girl Rose had just held seemed to flicker behind the Queen's eyes.
Aurelia looked away.
"I'm sorry."
Rose frowned.
"For what?"
"For all the trouble I've caused you."
"Aurelia—"
"My anger. My memories. My enemies."
She looked down at her hands.
"You carry all of it because you carry part of me."
Rose remained quiet.
"And if I lose control…"
Aurelia hesitated.
"If I lose control and take over again… I'm sorry."
She finally looked at Rose.
"I don't ever want to hurt you."
Rose stepped closer.
"Listen to me."
Aurelia became quiet.
"We are one."
Rose placed a hand against her own chest.
"If Silas is coming for you, he's coming for me."
Then she gently placed her hand against Aurelia's chest.
"And if he's coming for me, he's coming for you."
Aurelia's eyes softened.
"So we're fighting together."
"Together."
For several seconds, neither spoke.
Then Rose's mouth curved into a mischievous smile.
"And besides…"
Aurelia immediately became suspicious.
"What?"
"We still have your baby."
Aurelia froze.
Rose's grin widened.
"Do you remember how to call him?"
Rose immediately pointed at her before Aurelia could answer.
"Uh-uh. And don't look at me. You said you were going to call him. Not me."
Aurelia blinked.
"You remember that?"
"Of course I remember!"
For the first time since Rose entered the chamber, Aurelia genuinely smiled.
Then her expression became serious again.
"There is something you need to understand."
Rose listened.
"If Silas knows we're close, he won't wait for us to reach the castle."
Rose's smile disappeared.
"He'll come to us."
"Or send something first."
Rose thought for a moment.
"Then we make him think we're not ready."
Aurelia raised an eyebrow.
Rose smiled.
"But we will be."
Something changed in Aurelia's expression.
Approval.
The two began to talk.
About Silas.
About the territory.
About what might be waiting beyond the barrier.
And about what they would do if Silas came personally.
For the first time, Rose and Aurelia weren't simply sharing the same body or the same power.
They were planning a battle together.
Eventually, the chamber began to fade.
Rose looked around.
"I have to go back."
Aurelia nodded.
Rose's body slowly began to disappear.
"Rose."
She looked back.
Aurelia placed a hand over her heart.
"If anything happens… I'm always with you."
Rose smiled.
"We are one."
Aurelia smiled back.
"One."
Rose disappeared.
The chamber fell silent.
Aurelia remained standing alone.
Then her smile vanished.
She slowly turned her head.
Her golden eyes burned brighter.
The child was gone.
Only the Queen remained.
"Silas…"
Her voice echoed through the empty chamber.
"You will not hurt us again."
The chamber trembled.
And everything went black.
