Benign slowly rose from his kneeling position.
By his right was a sea of sand and dead bodies, while on his left, a creature with a gun.
The creature pointed the revolver at him, but Benign stood still. The revolver was too far away to be a serious threat. That was no sniper or even a rifle.
"What are you—"
BANG!
The bullet grazed his right arm. Benign let go of the man's hand he had been holding, and started a sprint down the other dune.
He couldn't hear the creature chasing him, but he heard their shooting and knew they were coming.
"To activate my skill, I need what?"
[To be alive.]
"NO SHIT!"
Another shot cracked past him, and he slid to a stop and faced the creature. He hadn't done anything to be marked.
'Is it the way of this realm? Kill whatever you see?'
He glanced back at the man he had spoken to. 'It might be the way of this place. Shooting down a weak person. Am I even allowed to kill?'
