Chapter 1 - chapter 1:I Caught Him

The rain fell in sharp sheets, drumming on my umbrella like a warning I refused to hear. I stood outside Room 407, every instinct screaming at me to turn and run, but my phone buzzed insistently in my hand.

"If you think he loves you… come see the truth."

Three years with Daniel. Three years of laughter, late-night whispers, and promises I believed in. And now, this message dared me to uncover a truth I wasn't sure I wanted.

I hesitated. My heart pounded. My breath caught in the cold night air. And yet, I pushed the door open.

A soft moan pierced the silence. My stomach dropped.

There he was—Daniel. Half naked, between another woman's legs, his hand tangled in her hair as if she belonged to him and I never had.

Time froze. My throat tightened. My feet felt rooted to the ground.

"…Daniel?" My voice cracked, barely audible over the storm outside.

He froze. Then turned, eyes narrowing—not in shock, not in guilt—but irritation.

"Seriously?" he muttered. "You weren't supposed to come here."

The other woman rolled her eyes, smirking with a smug sense of ownership.

"She's annoying," she said casually. "Why are you even with her?"

My chest burned. Three years… reduced to an inconvenience. My hands shook, but I swallowed my tears.

"You know what?" I said, my voice sharp. "Keep her."

I turned to leave, hoping the rain would wash away my humiliation.

"Wait."

I stopped. My heart, traitor that it was, skipped.

"Don't make a scene outside," he said, flat and unbothered. "You're embarrassing."

Embarrassing. Me.

I nodded slowly. "Don't worry," I whispered, steadying myself. "You'll never see me again."

I stepped into the night, letting the storm hide my tears, unaware that by tomorrow, my life would belong to someone else entirely.
