Aria's POV
I looked at him across the table and felt the tiredness in a deep place, not just physical but the kind that came from carrying too much for too long.
Lucian looked the same. He'd been holding the weight of his pack's grief on top of everything else, the way Alphas always did, absorbing it so everyone else could function.
"Come to bed," I said.
He looked slightly surprised, which told me I'd been a lot more task-focused than warm for the past few days.
"The calls are done," I said. "The markers on the map aren't moving tonight. Marcus is on watch and Derek is running surveillance." I pushed back from the table. "Come to bed."
The bedroom was dark and quiet and I was aware the moment the door closed behind us that something in the air shifted from operational to something else entirely.
Lucian reached for the lamp and I caught his hand.
"Leave it," I said.
