Chapter 3 - chapter 3

The underground city did not exist on any human map.

It was a network of forgotten tunnels, abandoned infrastructure, and corrupted spaces where reality itself had thinned. Dim lights flickered inconsistently, casting long shadows that twisted unnaturally along the walls.

This was where Belial ruled.

Not openly.

Not loudly.

But completely.

Gabriel stood at the edge of a high, broken platform, overlooking the sprawl below. His gaze moved slowly, absorbing everything.

Movement patterns.

Energy signatures.

Territory distribution.

"…Disorganized," he said.

Alex stood beside him, hands in his pockets, relaxed.

"Not disorganized," he replied. "Decentralized."

Gabriel didn't look at him.

"…Explain."

"Belial doesn't rule through strength alone," Alex said. "He rules through dependency."

He gestured downward.

"Food supply routes. Safe zones. Information flow. Everything passes through him."

Gabriel's eyes narrowed slightly.

"…A control network."

Alex smiled.

"Exactly."

Silence followed.

But Gabriel's mind had already begun working.

Mapping.

Breaking.

Rebuilding.

"…Then we don't attack Belial," Gabriel said.

Alex glanced at him.

A slow grin forming.

"We erase his network."

For a brief moment—

Neither spoke.

Then Alex laughed.

Low.

Genuine.

"Perfect."

Gabriel crouched slightly, observing a group of lesser demons moving below.

"…What is their hierarchy?"

"Loose," Alex replied. "E-rank to low D-rank. Most of them rely on Belial for resources."

Gabriel nodded once.

"…Then they are controllable."

Alex tilted his head.

"Oh?"

Gabriel's voice remained calm.

"Remove supply. Increase pressure. Introduce fear."

A pause.

"Then offer stability."

Alex's smile widened.

"You're learning fast."

"No," Gabriel replied.

"I'm optimizing."

Phase One

They didn't attack.

They didn't reveal themselves.

They watched.

For two days straight—

Gabriel observed everything.

Every movement.

Every interaction.

Every weakness.

He didn't sleep.

Didn't rest.

Didn't waste a single moment.

By the third day—

He spoke.

"…Food distribution passes through three points."

He pointed downward.

"…Eliminate one, and the system destabilizes by 34%."

Alex nodded.

"And two?"

"…Collapse."

Silence.

Alex's grin returned.

"Then we start with one."

First Disruption

It happened quietly.

One supply route—

Gone.

No explosion.

No warning.

No survivors.

Just absence.

Confusion spread immediately.

Demons gathered.

Whispers formed.

Tension rose.

Gabriel watched from above.

"…Reaction time: fast," he noted.

Alex leaned against the wall.

"Of course. They're desperate creatures."

Gabriel's eyes moved again.

"…Belial hasn't responded."

Alex smiled faintly.

"He's waiting."

"For what?"

"For confirmation."

Phase Two

The second strike came faster.

Another route—

Erased.

This time—

Panic followed.

Fights broke out.

Accusations spread.

Alliances cracked.

Exactly as predicted.

Gabriel observed everything.

"…Internal conflict increasing."

Alex nodded.

"Now we push."

The Whisper

They didn't attack.

They spoke.

Not directly.

Not openly.

But carefully.

A word here.

A rumor there.

"Belial is losing control."

"Supplies are gone."

"He can't protect you."

Fear spread faster than violence.

Gabriel watched the change.

"…Stability dropping below 50%," he said.

Alex smiled.

"And we haven't even shown ourselves."

Phase Three

Then—

They appeared.

Not to Belial.

To the others.

A small group.

Hungry.

Desperate.

Suspicious.

Gabriel stepped forward.

Calm.

Unshaken.

They reacted instantly.

Aggression.

Fear.

Instinct.

"Who are you?" one of them snarled.

Gabriel didn't answer immediately.

Instead—

He raised his hand.

Energy formed.

Dense.

Controlled.

Then—

He released it.

The ground cracked.

The air distorted.

Power surged outward—

Not killing—

But overwhelming.

Silence fell.

"…Stability," Gabriel said simply.

The demons froze.

Alex stepped forward slowly.

Smiling.

"Belial is weak," he said. "You already know that."

A pause.

"We offer something better."

No one moved.

But no one attacked either.

"…Proof," one of them growled.

Gabriel didn't hesitate.

Pain surged.

He took it.

Converted it.

Focused it.

Then—

He pointed forward.

A distant structure—

Collapsed instantly.

No explosion.

No warning.

Just destruction.

Silence followed.

"…That is control," Gabriel said.

The message was clear.

Power.

Stability.

Survival.

Everything Belial promised—

They could deliver better.

The Shift

It didn't happen all at once.

But it started.

Small groups began to move.

Quietly.

Carefully.

Switching sides.

Information began flowing toward them.

Weak points.

Hidden paths.

Internal conflicts.

Belial's control—

Was breaking.

The Reaction

Finally—

Belial moved.

The entire underground shifted.

A pressure descended.

Heavy.

Angry.

Unstable.

"…He noticed," Gabriel said.

Alex smiled.

"Good."

A deep roar echoed through the tunnels.

Not loud—

But powerful.

A warning.

A threat.

A declaration.

Gabriel remained still.

"…His energy output exceeds previous estimates," he said.

"Of course it does," Alex replied. "He's desperate now."

Silence.

Then Gabriel spoke.

"…Phase Four?"

Alex's smile turned sharp.

"Now…"

A pause.

"We let him make a mistake."

Gabriel looked forward.

Into the darkness.

"…And then we kill him."

For the first time—

A faint shift passed through him.

Not emotion.

Not excitement.

But something else.

Anticipation.

Because now—

The system wasn't just theoretical.

The power wasn't just controlled.

The plan—

Was working.

And Belial—

Was already losing.

Writing

Author's Thoughts:

Your author has entered mid-stage survival mode 😭

Exams are getting closer… pressure increasing… just like Belial right now 💀

If you don't drop power stones, I might become the real villain of this story.

Next chapter: Belial fights back (and things get MUCH more violent)

Support = faster chapters

No support = I start eliminating characters randomly 😈
