Chapter 3 - The Power Within

The golden light slowly faded, but the energy in the air remained heavy and alive. Aarav stood still, his chest rising and falling as he tried to understand what had just happened. His hands were still glowing faintly, and his body felt different—stronger, yet unfamiliar. In front of him, the massive Shadow Beast hovered in the sky, its burning red eyes fixed on him, but for the first time, it did not attack. It was as if it was observing him… waiting.

Zibu floated closer, his expression filled with shock and disbelief. He had expected Aarav to have potential, but not like this. Not so soon. Not this powerful. Even Rohan, who was usually fearless, stood silently beside Aarav, his excitement replaced with pure amazement. For once, he had no jokes to make.

Before anyone could speak, a deep and calm voice echoed across the land.

"So… the power has awakened at last."

Aarav turned around quickly. Standing behind them, as if he had always been there, was an old man. He wore long flowing robes that shimmered like silver under the fading light. His hair was white, his eyes sharp and glowing faintly blue, and his presence alone made the air feel calm yet powerful.

"Who are you?" Aarav asked cautiously.

The old man stepped forward slowly. "My name is Rishan," he said. "I am the guardian of Aranyor… and I have been waiting for you, Aarav."

Zibu immediately bowed his head in respect. Rohan, confused but trying to act serious, copied him awkwardly. Aarav, however, stood still, his mind full of questions.

Rishan looked at him carefully. "You feel it, don't you? The power inside you. It is not ordinary. It is ancient… and dangerous."

Aarav clenched his fists. "I don't understand anything. Why is that monster chasing me? What is this power? And why is everyone saying I'm 'chosen'?"

Rishan's expression grew serious. "Because long ago, this world was protected by a force known as the Light Core. It kept balance between light and darkness. But one day, a dark being tried to destroy it and take its power for himself. That being… is the Shadow Beast you just saw."

Aarav's eyes widened.

Rishan continued, "The Light Core was broken into pieces to protect it from falling into the wrong hands. Those pieces were hidden… and one of them was sealed within a human child."

Aarav felt a sudden chill. "You mean… me?"

Rishan nodded slowly. "Yes. You carry the last and most powerful fragment."

Before Aarav could react, the sky trembled again. The Shadow Beast let out a furious roar, this time filled with rage. It was no longer waiting.

"It knows now," Zibu said nervously. "It knows Aarav has the power."

The creature suddenly charged forward, breaking through the air like a storm. The ground shook as its massive form descended toward them with unstoppable force.

"Aarav!" Rohan shouted, stepping back in fear.

Rishan raised his hand calmly. "This is your first test. Do not fight with fear. Feel the power… control it."

Aarav's heart raced. Everything was happening too fast. He had never fought anything in his life, let alone a creature like this. But as the Shadow Beast came closer, something inside him responded. The same warmth, the same light he had felt before began to rise again.

He closed his eyes for a moment.

Then, he stepped forward.

As he raised his hand, the golden energy returned, stronger than before. It surrounded his body like a shield, glowing brighter with every second. The Shadow Beast roared as it collided with the light, creating a powerful shockwave that spread across the land.

For a moment, everything froze.

Light against darkness.

Power against power.

Aarav struggled, his legs shaking under the pressure. "I… I can't hold it!"

"You can!" Rishan's voice echoed firmly. "Believe in yourself!"

With one final effort, Aarav pushed forward.

A burst of golden energy exploded outward, forcing the Shadow Beast back into the sky. The creature roared in anger, its eyes burning brighter before it slowly disappeared into the dark clouds above.

Silence returned.

Aarav dropped to his knees, exhausted. The light faded, and his body felt weak again. Rohan rushed to him, helping him sit up.

"You just fought that thing!" Rohan said, half scared, half amazed.

Zibu smiled. "And survived."

Rishan looked at Aarav with a calm but serious expression. "This was only the beginning. If you are to protect this world, you must learn to control your power. Because next time… it will not retreat so easily."

Aarav looked up at the dark sky.

Deep inside, he knew one thing for sure—

A much bigger battle was coming.
