Chapter 1 - CH. 1: Where's everyone?

Henry quick!

A woman called out happily as she stood next to a small lake, holding a camera. It was morning.

"I'm coming Elena, I'm coming! These bushes are annoying," Henry said playfully as he walked through the bushes, finally moving past them and approaching his wife. She was standing just by the lake.

"Come on, get in the picture!" Elena exclaimed excitedly.

Henry stood next to her, wrapping his arm around her waist.

"Smile!"

She raised the camera and they both smiled at it before she took the picture and giggled.

Henry stared at her for a while before pushing her hair behind her ear gently, making her blush and smile.

"You're adorable," he muttered softly.

"I love you, Henry. I will always be with you," Elena whispered softly before hugging him.

"Yeah, that was fun," Henry muttered as he sat on a bed, holding the photo she took that day.

But where was she?

He looked around the hotel room. Nobody was there. Complete silence.

"Where's everyone?"

He opened the curtains and found no window. He opened the door and found nobody. Complete silence, just the buzzing of the lights.

"I woke up and everyone's gone."

Henry muttered as he exited the room, wearing a grey coat.

"It's weird."

His expression was neutral and calm, yet hesitant in some way.

"I gotta find Elena," he said before putting their photo in his coat pocket.

"I can't leave without her. She's my wife after all," he whispered to himself quietly and calmly as he walked through the hallway.

He stopped in front of a door, exhaling before opening it slowly.

He found nothing. Stepping inside, his shoes stepped on a liquid.

He glanced down and saw a grey reddish liquid.

"What could that be?"

He crouched and touched the liquid. It was sticky. He brought it to his nose but was quickly met with a terrible smell. He wiped his fingers on the ground and exited the room.

"That smelled so bad," he whispered to himself in the empty hallway. He seemed unfazed by everybody's disappearance.

Finally he found some stairs.

"I think I gotta go down. Elena is down there, I'm sure of it."

He muttered before heading down the stairs.

"Oh, it's getting colder."

He shivered slightly, finally reaching the new floor. It was still empty.

But this time there was...

"What the hell? Is this fog?"

He asked in confusion and surprise as the fog stretched through the whole floor, his voice echoing throughout the hallways just like his footsteps did.

"I gotta look for an elevator..."

He whispered to himself, resigned to the situation as he continued walking. His footsteps were faster now and more determined.

"Hello?! Is anybody here?" he called out, a little desperate.

"Where did everyone go..."

"Am I dreaming?"

He pinched his arm painfully, twisting and pulling.

"Yeah, that's not a dream," he said as realization dawned on him.

He took a step forward and his shoe fell on more of that weird smelly liquid he found a little while ago.

"Yikes, that liquid again..."

His face scrunched up in disgust before he continued walking. As he walked, more and more of that liquid appeared. The fog made it impossible to avoid.

He sighed, exhausted, before leaning against one of the hallway walls.

"I can't find the elevator. I remember there was an elevator on this floor. What happened here? Where's Elena? Where's everyone? What is this fog or this liquid...? Why is it just me? How is this not a dream?"

His thoughts were interrupted by a weird and disturbing gurgling sound coming from the fog somewhere. The sound made Henry's feet tremble.

"What is that..? Hello?"

The air was tense. The fog felt heavier. It was so quiet that Henry's breath was loud. His heart pounded.

The sound got closer and louder. The sound of heavy footsteps was heard too.

"Stay away," Henry warned, but his voice trembled.

The lights flickered and buzzed.

Suddenly, the sound of newborn babies crying cut through the silence.

Henry looked down.

Just a little bit in front of him was a crawling baby with an umbilical cord attached to it. It had no eyes, sealed with a weird substance. It kept dripping that weird disgusting liquid from its mouth as it whimpered.

"What the fuck?!!"

Henry yelled out before taking a step back, tripping and falling on his back.

Then suddenly, finally, a big tall figure emerged from the fog.

It was a womb with legs. Female legs.

The womb had a lot of umbilical cords attached to it, probably attached to other babies. It puked a huge amount of that liquid from its mouth that was the vagina.

Henry was stunned as the creature got closer.

A baby started crawling on him.

Henry's breathing got faster and heavier, unable to make a sound.

He roughly kicked the baby away. It screamed in pain and puked.

Henry started crawling the other way, eventually standing up and running to a hotel room. He barged in with his shoulder, shutting the door behind him.

He leaned against the door, sliding down against it. He hugged his knees in fear, trying to regulate his breathing.

"What the fuck... please god help me... or is this hell? Oh god..."

"Elena... I don't think I'll survive long enough to find you..."

He trembled in fear as the door behind him was banged on by the monster. Henry stayed still, uncertain.

"Please god... god... I need you... anything..."

The bangs got louder. Henry's whimpers were fearful. The gurgling was disturbing. The baby cries were haunting.

Finally he looked up, his eyes scanning the room.

He found a kitchen knife placed on a table next to silverware.

He gulped, readying himself. Taking a deep breath before getting up as quickly as he could and reaching for the knife.

The door opened roughly.

Babies crawled inside, drooling around.

Henry's eyes widened in horror. His breathing trembled more as he clutched the knife tightly, his hands shaking.

Suddenly a baby bit into his leg. It had already formed teeth. Spiky ones.

Henry yelled out in pain.

"AGH!"

"Get off of me!"

He kicked it away. It screamed.

The monster gurgled louder as it just stood there, watching.

Another baby climbed his leg.

Henry yelled out again in pain, his body trembling more, unable to shake this one off.

He had no choice but to stab it with the knife.

"Please get off!!"

He yelled out desperately and stabbed it with the knife.

It fell to the ground.

So did Henry as his knees gave out.

"Please no... fuck... fuck..!"

He teared up.

He reached out desperately for the knife that was inside the dead disturbing baby.

Other babies started biting on him, making him scream in agony.

He was unable to grab the knife before suddenly the sound of another loud and deep, so damn terrifying gurgling was heard.

It was the masculine version of this creature.

The sound was deep, deep down the floors.

The babies froze.

The female creature turned around and exited the room hurriedly.

The babies crawled behind.

Henry sat there, bleeding, traumatized, in pain.

"I... oh..."

He tried to utter a word.

"What..?"

He wiped his tears before pulling out the knife.

The baby exploded, but Henry was unmoved.

He just stared. Hollow.

He got up painfully.

"Gotta..."

He muttered as he exited the room.

"Gotta find Elena..."
