Chapter 2 - breaking point ☝️

After eating dinner, we sat in the living room and watched some romance movies of Hallmark. But since tomorrow is Monday, I walked early to bed.

Waking up early is not so new to me ever since. But, since I hate mornings, I still put a one-hour time allowance before I go to work every day. Because I'm telling you, almost all my time in the morning I am taking such as these; first 5 minutes-- sitting in the bed, stretching and doing nothing. Ten minutes-- checking my phone, e-mails, and text messages from my managers, my mom, and don't forget my boss. Another ten minutes-- preparing my clothes, fifteen minutes-- taking a shower and talking to myself in the mirror. And the last minutes I have to spend it wearing my clothes and doing makeup.

So sometimes, eating breakfast is not included in my daily routine.

Entering our office building, I started to wear my natural smile. I am twenty minutes early so I don't have to run my feet getting late. I still have time to say 'Hi' and make a little 'chat' with some other employee who greets me.

Well, not all of them like me. There were also several of them, especially those who were members of my boss's fan club. The two members of that fan's club were Ailene and Jenny. They hate me for being their boss's PA, in short.. they envied me. They were talking nonsense, and I just chose to ignore them like I always did every time I saw them.

Walking out from the elevator, they turned their way left with scowls on their face. I hadn't put down my things when Sandy, the CEO's secretary, came frowning at my office door.

"I've been calling you in the lobby, but you just ignored me!" she said with knitted eyebrows.

"Ohh, I'm sorry. I didn't hear you."

"Hmmp! It's okay. I just want to give you this." she has a brown paper bag in her hand.

"What's this?" I asked accepting the bag from her.

"Hmm, it's just chocolate cupcakes. I brought you some because I know you skipped breakfast every day." she rolled her eyes.

"Ahh.. you're so sweet. Thank you."

I hugged her and she patted my arm. She's just 4 months ahead of me. Like me, she also suffered from Jenny and Ailene's bullying club when she was just starting work.

"Wait! Is the boss already here?" her eyes widened.

"Relax, we're a bit early. He hadn't come yet."

"Ha she sighed and I chuckled.

"Thank you for this." I lifted the brown bag.

"You're welcome. Just let me and my new boyfriend come to your restaurant and eat for free." she winked at me, wiggling her eyebrows, and I laughed.

"So, that's it. In exchange for this cupcakes----"

"Just kidding!" she laughed together with me.

Besides my friends, I also let her know my secret. And she promised to keep it to herself until I say so.

"Nah! Seriously, just text me or let me know whenever you want to go there and it's on me. And if you want to ask your boyfriend for a date, just call me."

"What? I admit, your idea is really good and tempting, Madi, but there is no way in hell I will ask him on a date and pay for everything! Just no way!"

I laughed at her bitter reaction.

"And why is that? You know, it's a give and take for a relationship to work."

"Don't tell me, you're willing to do that when you're dating?"

"Why not? Like I said, it's always a give and take in a relationship. You need to learn that process if you want the both of you to work."

I explained not noticing our boss stopped his trance in front of my office door. We continued our conversation.

"But you're a girl Madi, and he's the guy!"

"And so... what if he's a guy?"

"So, he should be the one to pay the bills on your dates and handle all your needs! He should be the one making all the efforts in your relationship!"

I can't help myself from laughing.

"Sandy, why are we talking about money here? We're talking about relationships. And as I told you, if you want your relationship to work, you should learn the give and take process. Whether you're a guy or a girl, you need both to give an effort to your relationship. Being a girl doesn't mean, you can't ask your guy for a date."

"Ohh.. that means your generosity has no limits!" I rolled my eyes. "I'm going to set you on a blind date!" she smiled evilly.

"A blind date?" my face turned sour with her idea.

"Yes, a blind date!" she repeated proudly.

I was about to complain when the hidden figure at the door showed himself and walked towards us.

"No one will set a blind date with anyone, especially when you're at work." his cold voice rang to both our ears, which, caused our eyes to turn wide like saucers.

"G-Good morning, Sir." Sandy greeted him first stuttering.

"Good morning. Mr. Wilsons." I greeted him with a high chin. It's still 10 minutes before our official time in, so we don't have to worry about being caught chatting by our boss.

"Ms. Aguilar, have you finished those papers that I gave you yesterday?" he asked her, but his eyes focused on me. I didn't look down, I just gulped the lump in my throat. His cold stare brings sparks down my spine. It's weird, but I tried to look away and glance at Sandy, who was looking down at her feet.

"Yes, Sir. I'll bring it to your office immediately."

She said but he just ignored her.

"Ms. Davis, bring me my coffee and my schedules for today," he said not leaving his eyes on me.

"Yes Sir, right away." I managed to smile and turned around to break his freaking stare. Sandy excused herself and walked to her office, which was just in front of mine.

"Whew!"

I sighed when he walked out 'finally' from my office.

I went to the pantry to make him his first coffee of the day.

Knocking on his office door, I heard his cold voice inside saying,g 'Come in.' I took a deep breath before entering the door. The cold atmosphere in the room, mixed with his cold voice, sent goosebumps all over my body. Right there on his table is the cold and heartless CEO, Gabriel Wilsons. He has the five o'clock shadow and a pink pair of lips that I almost dream of kissing.

I shake my head with my naughty thoughts.

"Mr. Wilsons. You're coffee, Sir." I put it on his desk. He didn't say anything. He didn't even look at me.

-'Rude!'-

My everyday line on my head every time he didn't comment anything. No 'thank you' whatsoever after giving his orders. I told you, he doesn't know the word thank you. It doesn't exist in his vocabulary.

"Do you need anything else, Sir?"

"My schedules."

-' Oh.. I forgot.'-

I mentally rolled my eyes and recited his schedule for the day.

"Anything else, Sir?" I keep my smile on my face.

"Nothing so far. You can go back to work," he said not looking at me but on the papers on his hands.

I didn't waste any seconds; I turned my way to the door.. only to be stopped by his cold voice.

"Ms. Davis." I immediately turned around. "Call Ms. Aguilar, when you walk out." he then turned his eyes back to the bunch of papers.

That's it. The second word that doesn't list in his vocabulary, besides thank you, is 'Please.'

-' You're welcome-

Came the voice from my mind.

"Okay, Sir."

I sighed loudly while making my way to Sandy's desk.

"Sandy." She looked up when she heard my voice. "Mr. Wilsons wants to see you."

"Oh... okay."

I chuckled as she was startled. I don't know why she still hasn't used to our boss's cold and strict demeanor.

"Relax. He won't eat you." I tried to joke but she just huffed loudly.

"Yeah, I know. And I don't get how you managed to stay cool and relaxed in front of him!"

I need to cover my mouth to stifle my laugh.

"Maybe because I am also a boss?" I whispered laughing while looking around.

"Oh... yeah, I forgot. How silly of me. Hmph!" she took the red folder on top of her table and walked to the door. I followed her out.

"Good luck." I chuckled teasing her.

"I hate you!" and I laugh more before walking back to my office.
