Chapter 18 - <Sky Splitter> (Part 4)

Alex tried to sense the undying energy just as he had done when he first learned to control Qi. However, even after half an hour, he felt nothing unusual happening inside his body.

Just when he was about to give up, a tingling sensation suddenly spread throughout his body, as though tiny currents of electricity were flowing through his veins. The strange sensation caught his attention, and he immediately focused on it.

The next moment, a notification sounded inside his mind.

"What?" Alex was startled by the sudden warning and immediately stopped what he was doing. "Why? What's wrong with using it?"

Alex immediately abandoned his experiment. He had no intention of risking his life just to understand a new type of energy, especially when he barely knew anything about it.

This means I can use it just like Qi, he thought after considering the information. At least, I've learned something useful today.

Another notification appeared in his mind before he could continue thinking about the matter.

"What?" Alex exclaimed, his eyes widening in surprise. He had never imagined that the system would have locked features that could be unlocked through his understanding. "What features?"

"So, it's like a currency. I have to spend undying energy in exchange for information." Alex quickly understood the principle and nodded in satisfaction. "What else?"

Alex nodded thoughtfully as he considered the new ability. Being able to obtain information about anything he ate sounded useful, although he still had no idea what kind of information the system could actually provide.

"How does that even work?" he asked curiously.

"Of course..." Alex sighed, having expected such an answer from the beginning.

Alex decided not to argue with the system over its restrictions. Since it refused to explain, he would have to experiment carefully and discover the answers on his own.

"Is there anything else?" he asked, hoping there might be another useful feature hidden behind the system's restrictions.

Alex was surprised by this announcement. This was the first time the system had explicitly asked for his attention before providing additional information, rather than simply displaying a notification without warning.

"What is it?" he asked, curious about what the system had discovered.

"Huh? What? Why?" Alex asked in confusion, glancing at the sword as he tried to understand the reason behind this unexpected revelation.

"Oh, really? By how much?" Alex immediately became interested. Since Sky Splitter was already part of his strength, helping it evolve would naturally benefit him as well.

"Then what is its current speed of evolution? I mean, how long will it take to evolve if I don't give it any energy?" Alex asked, wanting to understand the situation before making any decisions.

"What!" Alex stared at the notification, already feeling that this new feature was going to become a hassle. "How much will it cost?"

I hope it won't be too much, he thought nervously, remembering that undying energy was directly connected to his survival.

"What! Five units? That's too much!" Alex exclaimed in disbelief.

Considering that he possessed only seventy-two units of undying energy, spending five units merely to obtain a single piece of information seemed rather expensive. Although the amount was not insignificant, the real problem was that he had no reliable way to replenish what he spent.

After all, undying energy was what kept him alive. Unlike ordinary resources, he couldn't afford to waste it carelessly without understanding the consequences.

And the worst part is that I don't even know how to obtain more of it.

Ever since he had arrived in this world, he hadn't gained even a single additional unit of undying energy. If he continued spending it without discovering a way to replenish his supply, he might eventually find himself in a dangerous situation.

"Is there any alternative method?" Alex asked, unwilling to spend such a precious resource without considering his other options.

Now that Sky Splitter was in his possession, its strength was also part of his own. If the sword evolved faster, it would eventually become more useful to him in battle, making the investment worthwhile.

However, giving it five units of undying energy without knowing how much that would accelerate its evolution seemed like a gamble. What if five units barely made any difference? In that case, he would lose a precious resource without receiving any meaningful benefit.

It would be better to know how long its evolution will take before deciding whether to invest in it, Alex thought, carefully weighing his options.
