Chapter 6 - Thirty-Seventy Split

Hinata, there's something I need to ask you, and you must answer honestly.

Naruto suddenly turned his head, set down his chopsticks with his right hand, and grabbed Hinata's wrist.

As expected, a soft yelp followed; her face and ears flooded crimson.

"Y-you… you…"

Hinata looked as if steam might erupt from her at any second.

Could it… could it be that Naruto-kun can't hold back anymore…? Her heart pounded like a startled fawn.

"Are you full?"

Naruto asked with utter seriousness.

"Eh?"

Hinata lifted her head in surprise, her baby-fat cheeks glowing apple-red.

"Are you full?"

Naruto repeated, "Be honest now."

A sudden flicker of disappointment crossed Hinata's face. "N-no… not yet."

Just as I thought.

One bowl could never be enough.

Naruto released her wrist and called for another bowl from old man Teuchi.

Thus, under his relentless urging, Hinata polished off nine bowls of ramen.

Not quite her peak, but she was only six after all.

Naruto paid while Teuchi gaped in disbelief.

He glanced at Hinata's stomach.

No bulge, no movement at all.

A dimensional stomach?

Deep bewilderment took hold of him.

Noticing his stare, Hinata flushed and apologized, "I was so rude earlier!"

"Healthy appetite is a blessing."

Naruto waved it off.

Half the wallet was gone, but keeping the future wife fed mattered more.

Hinata lowered her head again, though a small smile tugged at her lips.

"We're here."

Naruto stopped, once more escorting the lost Hinata to her gate.

"If you're free, come find me by the stream. I train there lately."

He said it to spare the little loli any more "lost" excuses.

"Okay!"

Hinata's eyes brightened; she skipped into the compound.

Naruto turned—and met a pair of white eyes.

Same age, long brown-tinged hair, face blank and cold: keep your distance.

Hyuga Neji.

Branch-house prodigy, nursing hatred for the main family after his father's death.

The Caged Bird Seal chained him to a branch fate, feeding bleak fatalism—until the Chunin Examsloosened the knot, though tragedy still claimed him as the only Leaf genin to die among the twelve.

Back to the moment: Neji still stared without a word.

"What're you looking at?"

Naruto offered a friendly opener.

Neji blinked, faintly surprised, said nothing, and walked off—cool to the core.

This guy could rival Sasuke.

Naruto mused, watching him leave.

But Sasuke has plot armor—never got beaten to death, plenty of chances to act cool.

Once again Naruto headed home under "kind" stares.

He suddenly felt this achievement system didn't suit him.

If only it collected resentment—he could just stand in the street.

With numbers popping overhead, before long he'd punch the Third, kick Danzo, marry Hinata, become Hokage, and reach the pinnacle of life.

Naruto rubbed his hands.

Touching Hinata's wrist had rubbed off some of her luck.

Too bad he didn't know the richest of rich ladies, the luckiest of lucky draws—Tenten.

"Golden legendary, golden legendary…"

He muttered, starting the card pull.

[Drawing card… Congratulations, host: one item card acquired.]

Damn it!

It's bronze.

His vision dimmed—nothing good.

[item card: Puppy Frisbee.]

[Description: Permanent item. Extremely attractive to dogs; aids digestion and absorption.]

So you've got a thing against dogs, huh?

Aids digestion—think you're stomach tablets?

Naruto held the blue disc in silence.

Maybe gift it to Kiba one of these days.

He couldn't exactly use it to train the Nine-Tails.

Setting aside whether the fox would play, those thousand-year-old fangs would crunch the frisbee to bits.

After stowing the frisbee he spent the night refining his rider belt by hand.

Night passed without incident.

Naruto reached his paddy field.

Found the two clones he'd left behind yesterday—sleeping on the job.

Slacking off!

He roused them and set them to work.

An hour later Inuzuka Kiba and his big sister Hana appeared.

"So hardworking,"

Hana remarked, watching Naruto's leap-training. "Kiba, look at him."

Kiba curled his lip.

Yet Naruto impressed him.

Nothing like Village rumors.

Unimaginable effort, upbeat mindset, talent above the rest.

Yesterday he'd noticed Naruto's two clones—thought it was a basic clone, but it looked like the Shadow Clone Jutsu Mom mentioned.

"Kiba, Sis Hana."

Naruto hadn't expected them; they'd only met once.

Still, he kept his manners, though "Sis Hana" made him think of the flower on the other shore.

"No Matsumaru today?"

Naruto glanced around.

"Taking a break."

Hana pondered, then asked, "Where did you buy that dog food you gave him yesterday?"

Huh?

Poisoned chow?

That was Naruto's first thought.

Impossible—Nine-Tails was bouncing around fine.

"Why do you ask?"

Naruto sidestepped; he had no ready answer.

Hana looked surprised.

He didn't seem to know the chow's effects.

She didn't hide anything.

As she explained, Naruto blinked.

As expected: system Produced, Must be a high-quality product.

Ahem—he took back his earlier Make complaints.

Looks like the Puppy Frisbee and the dog food are a set.

Naruto's eyes lit up.

Yesterday he'd worried about money; today someone brought cash to his door.

What a coincidence.

Only tricky part was the excuse.

"Ahem, where I bought it is secret."

Naruto said mysteriously, "But we can cooperate—I supply the chow for you to study and sell. A product this good will be hot."

Hana smiled.

Curious but didn't pry.

She loved research.

A new dog food naturally interested her.

And it would benefit the Inuzuka Clan without downside.

She had no reason to refuse.

Remembering her parents' advice, she asked, "What split do you propose?"

Naruto's first thought was fifty-fifty.

Then it felt too greedy.

After all, he did nothing; even the recipe needed Hana to figure out.

"How about thirty-seventy? After costs you take seventy, I take thirty."

Considering the chow's uniqueness and its importance to the Inuzuka, he set the ratio.

Hana pondered briefly and agreed.

Naruto handed over today's batch of dog food and gave the Puppy Frisbee to Kiba as a first friend-gift.

The two then hurried off.

Naruto wasn't worried about being cheated.

He was the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.

He could straight-up duel Danzo at the gate without issue, let alone the Inuzuka Clan.

If they dared swindle him, next time big brother Nagato attacks Konoha he'd just tilt one Tailed Beast Ball onto their doorstep.
