Alexander walked towards Scarlett and put his hand out for her to take. Scarlett took his hand as he helped her walk down the stairs. The guests whispered among themselves.
"Are you okay?" Alexander asked Scarlett as she hummed. He led her to meet her parents. The Danvers were so happy to see her.
"Oh my child." Margaret said as she embraced Scarlett in a warm hug.
"Mommy." Scarlett said softly as her mother kissed her cheek.
"Ruby." Her father, Joseph said as Scarlett hugged him. Scarlett is a daddy's girl. From childhood she has always been a daddy's girl. Whenever she did something wrong her mother would scold her while her father gave her chocolate instead.
He always told her that "If I give you chocolate know I'm angry." But he would not scold her or anything.
There was a time in high school that Scarlett injured another student who was her senior. The girl had a cut on her right cheek.
The principal wanted to expell her but Joseph threatened him including Alexander himself. The principal let go of the matter but the girl transferred and went to therapy. The matter did not even reach Margaret.
"My Ruby. Dad missed you so much. " Joseph said as he pinched Scarlett's cheeks causing her to whine while they laugh.
"I missed you too dad." Scarlett responded as Liam coughed to get her attention.
Liam just grabbed Scarlett and embraced her. Liam was always an overprotective brother. He always knew about Scarlett's moves.
These two loved each other a lot.
"Liam, I missed you." Scarlett said as the man leaned down to kiss her cheek but Liam was surprised when he kissed a huge hand— a man's hand.
He looked up to see it's Alexander's hand. Liam was offended and wiped his lips. He glared at Alexander.
" Alex you pompous!" Liam yelled as Alexander rolled his eyes at him. Liam gasped and looked around for Elizabeth. He saw her talking to someone and went there.
"Excuse me can I borrow my mom. Just two minutes." Liam said as he held Elizabeth's hand and led her to his parents.
He pointed at Alexander dramatically.
"This egoistic man dared to ruined my moment with my sister. I was being a sweet brother. I wanted to kiss Scarlett's cheek but this guy made me kiss his hand. I'm offended. " Liam said with a scowl.
Elizabeth almost laughed. Liam has always been dramatic.
"Alex don't trouble Liam or else I will make you sleep in the attic." Elizabeth scolded as Liam smirked.
Alexander was about to speak when music started playing.
"It's time for the couple dance but first let's have our couple of the moment." Elizabeth announced.
Alexander sighed. He made eye contact with Scarlett. He wanted to reach out when Diana herself found him.
All this time she was fuming. Diana felt ignored. After entering the hall together, Alexander did not even once approach her.
When he helped Scarlett down the stairs behind people whispered about how a man never forgets his first love. Her hatred for Scarlett increased bit by bit.
"Hunny let's dance together." Diana said softly as Alexander just took her hand and headed to the center of the hall.
They started dancing to the music. To everyone it looked sweet and romantic even Alexander's business partners awed.
Diana was blushing. She looked at Scarlett and winked but she showed no reaction. However, Alexander saw it. He saw how she winked at Scarlett.
Alexander also looked at Scarlett softly but she was not looking at him. She was leaving the hall. Alexander decided to end the dance. Diana was disappointed but she got what she want.
She showed off to the guests. She showed off to Scarlett. Diana felt so good.
Alexander was about to follow Scarlett when on of his business partners from the Royal Tech called him.
Royal tech was the reason why he got married. They wanted him to show up at their party next week with a wife but since he already got married why delay the good deed.
"Mr Harrison, I have to say I'm impressed. You have a beautiful wife." The old man commented. Alexander forced a smile.
"Thank you Mr Smith." He responded. Mr Smith asked his assistant to give them some documents.
"This is the contract my signature is already on it. Only yours is left. Congratulations Mr Harrison. Royal Tech is now yours." Mr Smith said.
Alexander shook hands with him as he also signed the contract. He got the tech company he wanted.
Finally after what felt like an eternity he managed to escape Mr Smith.
He went to the backyard. It had a hidden garden. This was his hideout when he was a kid. He always maintained the place.
He took the secret path and was welcomed by the scent of roses. He saw Scarlett sitting on the bench. She was holding a rose. But it had thorns. She was crushing it.
Alexander worried rushed to her aid. He took the rose from her and put it on the ground. He took out his handkerchief and put it on her hand.
"Ruby, this was recklessness. Don't you ever hurt yourself like this ever again." Alexander said as he held her injured hand.
"Tell me Alex what are you doing?" Scarlett asked him.
Alexander took a deep breath and looked at Scarlett who was already staring at him.
"You should be out there. Charming guests. Stand with your wife." Scarlett added.
"I choked her today." Scarlett said coldly. "I was satisfied to see her scared to death. You should have seen her face." Scarlett said.
"You should have killed her." Alexander responded. Scarlett put her hand on his jaw caressing it as he leaned to her touch.
"You would be left without a wife. I'm not that heartless." Scarlett responded as Alexander chuckled.
"Oh I know how heartless you can be my ruby." Alexander said as he leaned in and captured Scarlett's lips in a fierce kiss.
