POV : *Before Daniel, Bela, Cassandra left, I confronted her with a crowbar*
This was a very bold – or perhaps reckless—decision.
As the swarm of black flies begins to reintegrate into a human form in the doorway, and right after Daniela's sickle slasshes through Moroaica, you come out from behind the closet.
You brandished the iron crowbar with trembling hands, standing tall among the haystacks and the corpses of the unfortunate creature that had just died. The thin moonlight illuminated your tense face.
Srakkk...
The change stopped instantly. Bela, the eldest brother who held a large scythe, and Daniela, who was licking the blood from her scythe, froze. The thousands of flies around them buzzed softly, as if confused by the scene in front of them.
Then, Daniela exploded in laughter. A melodious laugh but sounded crazy and bloodthirsty.
"Bela, look at this!" Daniela exclaimed, pointing at you with her blood-soaked sickle. "This little rat has guts. He wants to fight with us us... a piece of iron?"
Bela didn't laugh. His dark eyes looked at you coldly, judgingly. His sickle slowly lifted, its sharp tip pointing right at your neck.
"How brave you are, human," Bela's voice was flat but deadly. "You don't know who we are? You are in Lord Dimitrescu's land, and we are the rulers."
The hum of the flies around them grew louder, a sign that they were ready to attack. The intense cold suddenly filled the room, making your breath feel heavy. The winged silver key was still lying on the floor, just a few steps behind you.
You stand in front of two immortal predators that can tear you into small pieces in a matter of seconds. The crowbar in your hand feels very light and meaningless.
Me : Use the crowbar to attack Bela first. (A desperate decision, most likely to end fatally.)
With a desperate shout that breaks the silence of the village, you swing the iron crowbar with all your might towards Bela. You don't wait for them to attack first—you choose to die (or live) by fighting.
Sigh!
The sound of metal crashing sounded loudly. Bela didn't even blink. He held the crowbar with only his sickle handle. His strength far surpasses that of ordinary humans; Your hands feel numb from the vibration of the impact.
"Oh, he's really trying to attack you, Sis!" Daniela laughed loudly, her body began to unravel into a bunch of black flies buzzing furiously. "May I taste a little of his neck? Just a little!"
Bela pushes your crowbar with one powerful jolt until you stagger backwards, falling seated on the fragile wooden floor. The cold tip of Bela's sickle is now clinging just below your chin, forcing you to look up.
"Stop, Daniela," Bela coldly ordered. Her dark eyes look at you with cruel curiosity. "This human has guts that we rarely see in ordinary prey. Most of them just cry and beg."
Bela presses his sickle slightly, making a small scratch on the skin of your neck. A drop of warm blood flowed down.
"Mom has been feeling bored lately because there is no entertainment in the Castle," Bela muttered, a terrifying thin smile appearing on her lips. "Killing you here is a waste. We'll bring it before Lady Dimitrescu. If he was impressed by your courage, maybe he would make me... or one of us, as your 'owner'."
Daniela snorted in disappointment, but still obeyed. Suddenly, thousands of black flies lunged at you. You feel your body lifted into the air, surrounded by thousands of biting and buzzing insects. Your world darkens as they drag you out of the house, flying through the village towards the towering gates of the Castle.
A few moments later, you're thrown onto a cold and luxurious marble floor. You are inside a great hall that is very magnificent. The fragrance of roses and strong wine aromas fill the room.
"Mom," Bela's voice echoed in the vast hall. "Look at what we found in the village. A little rat that tried to fight us with scrap metal."
You look up. From the large curved staircase, a giant woman in a clean white dress and a wide hat walked down. Every step makes the floor feel vibrating. He is holding a long cigarette pipe, looking at you from a height of almost 3 meters with a very condescending gaze.
"So..." Lady Dimitrescu's voice was heavy and authoritative. "This is the brave who interfered with my daughters' patrol?"
He approached, leaning over slightly to get a closer look at your face. Her long, sharp nails glistened under the crystal light.
Me : *I ran out the door*
You turn the direction and explode in a run as fast as your adrenaline can produce. You don't wait for their reaction. You slam into the weathered back door, destroy the remnants of wood attached to the hinges, and jump into the thick snow.
"He's running! Haha! Chase him!" Daniela's voice growls behind you, mixed with the hum of thousands of flies that begin to chase you like a black storm.
You run blindly down a narrow alley between old houses. Your lungs feel burned by the sharp cold air. In front of you, the village streets are divided into two:
To the Left (Suspension Bridge): An old wooden bridge that leads towards the misty forest. If you manage to cross, you might be able to lose them in the darkness of the forest.
To the Right (Old Church): A stone building that looks solid. You see the door of the church open slightly. There may be a sanctuary or a basement to hide.
However, as you ran, you heard the sound of "Sringgg!" —a huge scythe flew past your ears and stuck to a wooden post right in front of your face, blocking your path for a moment.
"Where are you going, sweetie?" Bela suddenly appeared on the roof in front of you, standing gracefully while Daniela began to surround you from behind in the form of a cloud of flies.
