Chapter 1 - Waking up

Ugh…! Ouch…!

My head…!

Why does it hurt so much…?

Shuhang, still trapped in a heavy sleep, struggled weakly against the thick darkness pressing heavily over his closed eyes, while a sharp throbbing pain pulsed inside his skull, as if thin needles were being pushed slowly through his temples again and again.

After a long moment of painful effort, his eyelids finally trembled and lifted slightly, allowing a dim blur of shapes and colors to swim before his vision like shadows moving under water.

Within moments, a faint sound soon drifted into his ears, distant and unclear, like someone speaking from the far end of a long corridor, while fragmented flashes of unfamiliar scenes flickering through his mind.

As his consciousness slowly gathered itself and his thoughts began to steady inside that half-awake haze, the distant voice slowly became clearer.

"Eryn…"

His vision sharpened little by little, and the blurry figure standing before him slowly gained shape.

At first he could only see a silhouette figure, its form wavering slightly, leaning slightly forward while muttering strange words he could barely understand.

But within a few moments the blur faded completely, revealing a young lady— with refined features and a pair of clear eyes like a crystal that carried a faint trace of worry.

"Are you feeling better?"

"…"

Upon hearing her voice, Shuhang remained silent for a moment while attempting to push himself upright, yet the instant he forced his body to move, a violent wave of pain spread through his limbs, forcing him to collapse back onto the bed.

After pausing for a brief moment to steady his breathing, he answered in a low voice.

"Un…"

His gaze quietly drifted around the room as he carefully observed his surroundings.

The woman wearing a purple dress sat beside him on a chair near the bed, behind her three women dressed in black-white maid uniforms, their posture — disciplined and attentive.

Next to them stood another woman with a slightly stricter appearance, elegantly dressed whose calm expression and composed stance made it clear that she was most likely the head maidservant.

Without saying another word, the woman seated beside him gently waved her hand.

One of the maids immediately stepped forward while carrying a tray that held a glass of water and a bowl filled with thick green medicine, its faint smell of herbs drifting lightly through the quiet room.

Shuhang, who had been lying silently, tried once more to sit up.

But this time another maid quickly stepped forward and carefully supported his back, helping him rise into a seated position.

The maid then held the glass to his lips, allowing him to slowly drink the water after carefully feeding him the green potion.

Once he finished drinking, the woman sitting beside the bed spoke again in a soft and gentle voice.

"Are you feeling pain anywhere?"

Shuhang paused briefly before simply shaking his head in response.

The woman remained silent for several seconds, her gaze lowered slightly as if lost in thought, before she finally stood up and quietly said while turning to leave.

"Take care."

The maids quickly finished tidying the items they had brought, and as they followed behind her, the head maidservant also bowed respectfully.

"Young Master, if you need anything, please call for us. The maid will remain nearby to attend to you."

Shuhang simply nodded in response.

Soon the room became quiet once again, leaving only a single maid who moved silently near the window while adjusting the cushions on a nearby sofa.

Shuhang stared blankly at the ceiling above him, shifting his body slightly as he tested his strength.

Hm… my entire body hurts.

He closed his eyes for a brief moment and released a long breath.

So… I have really transmigrated into another world.

But why? Why is this body so weak… almost as if it had already stepped halfway into death?

His eyes slowly opened again, drifting toward the maid standing near the window.

She appeared to be a woman in her late twenties with neat and simple features, her posture calm while she quietly finished arranging the room.

His eyes slowly followed down, lingering for a moment on the soft curve of her chest beneath the maid uniform, his thought in her his dream like memories.

Unlike his previous world, this place was simply unreal.

Here, supernatural powers people once called impossible truly existed—mysterious magic that bent nature itself, along with strange species that in his previous life could only be found inside fantasy novels.

The world still moved under familiar principles of sky, land, and life, yet beneath those familiar layers everything functioned under completely different rules.

And within this strange world, Shuhang had opened his eyes as Eryndor von Valcarys, the second son of the House Valcarys.

House Valcarys was once a respected noble family whose name had spread across the empire through decades of magical research and powerful contributions to arcane knowledge.

Yet for reasons hidden somewhere in the past, the once flourishing family had now declined until only two members remained within its fading halls.

One of them was Eryndor himself. The other was the woman who had just visited him moments ago—his sister-in-law, the widow of his late elder brother.

Unfortunately, the man who once lived an ordinary life in a healthy body now found himself trapped inside this fragile shell, lying helplessly on a bed that had almost become his entire world.

It was a truly troubling situation.

Eryndor had been born with a strange illness that left his body weak and constantly exhausted, forcing him to spend nearly half of his life confined to this very room.

Because of that fragile condition, he had grown up separated from the outside world, far removed from whatever struggles or conflicts surrounded his declining family.

Yet what troubled him even more was something else entirely—he remembered nothing about his childhood.
