Chapter 1 - chapter 1

Teen Wolf: Savage Roots

Chapter 1 — The Door

Two years of peace.

For most towns, that wouldn't mean much.

But for Beacon Hills, two years without supernatural chaos felt almost impossible.

Two years since the defeat of the Nogitsune.

Two years since Derek Hale sacrificed himself in a fire that ended an ancient evil.

Two years since Allison Argent came back from the dead.

Life had moved forward.

The pack that once stood together through war, hunters, monsters, and chaos had slowly begun to drift apart—not from conflict, but from life itself.

Some had left Beacon Hills to chase dreams bigger than the small California town.

Others stayed, trying to build something normal in a place that had never truly been normal.

And somehow… for the first time in years…

Scott McCall had found peace.

---

Far away from Beacon Hills…

Far from any road, city, or civilization…

Something ancient waited.

The tunnel was carved from black stone older than memory itself. The air inside smelled of damp earth and something colder—something forgotten.

A single figure walked through the darkness.

His footsteps echoed softly through the cavern.

He wore long dark clothing that brushed against the stone floor as he moved. His face was hidden beneath a shadowed hood.

In his hand was a key.

The metal was strange—twisted, ancient, covered in symbols that had long since disappeared from human language.

At the end of the tunnel stood a door.

Not a normal door.

This one towered nearly thirty feet high, carved directly into the rock. Strange runes spiraled across its surface like veins.

Chains once sealed it shut.

But the chains had been broken.

The man stepped forward slowly.

Calmly.

As if he had been waiting for this moment his entire life.

He raised the key.

For a brief moment… the cavern seemed to breathe.

The darkness around him shifted like it was alive.

Then he pushed the key into the massive lock.

The metal clicked.

A whisper filled the air.

Not from the man.

From the door itself.

A voice so faint it barely existed.

Yet it echoed through the cavern like thunder.

"It's time…"

The man smiled beneath his hood.

He slowly turned the key.

The lock groaned like something waking from a thousand-year sleep.

Stone cracked.

Dust fell from the ceiling.

The whisper returned.

This time stronger.

Hungry.

"It's time the world remembers my name."

The door began to open.

Just an inch.

Darkness poured from the crack like smoke.

And something inside… moved.

---

Scott McCall woke up screaming.

He shot upright in bed, chest heaving as if he had just run for miles.

Moonlight spilled through the bedroom window.

Beside him, Allison stirred awake.

"What the hell was that?" she mumbled, her voice still thick with sleep.

Scott ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm his breathing.

"Just a nightmare," he said.

But the words didn't feel right.

Because the dream felt real.

Too real.

He could still hear the sound of something opening.

Something ancient.

Allison sat up beside him, studying his face carefully. Even after everything they had been through, she could read him better than anyone.

"That wasn't just a nightmare," she said quietly.

Scott sighed.

"Maybe not."

He looked at the clock.

6:12 AM.

The sun was just starting to rise.

Scott swung his legs off the bed.

"I'm gonna grab some air."

Allison gave him a small nod, though worry lingered in her eyes.

Scott walked downstairs and stepped outside into the cool morning air.

Beacon Hills looked peaceful.

Quiet streets.

Morning sunlight creeping over the rooftops.

Birds chirping somewhere in the distance.

For a moment, Scott almost laughed at himself.

Maybe it really was just a dream.

Then he smelled it.

Blood.

The scent hit him instantly.

Sharp.

Metallic.

Every instinct in his body went rigid.

Scott slowly looked down the street.

His heart dropped.

Blood covered the pavement.

Not splattered.

Written.

Across the asphalt in thick, dripping letters.

Scott stepped closer.

The words stretched across the road like a warning meant only for him.

COMING FOR ALL OF YOU

Scott's pulse thundered in his ears.

His wolf senses searched the area instantly.

No heartbeat.

No footsteps.

Nothing.

Whoever wrote it…

Was already gone.

Behind him, the front door creaked open.

Allison stepped outside.

She followed Scott's gaze.

And froze.

"…Scott."

"I know."

For two years, the town had been quiet.

For two years, the pack had believed the war was finally over.

Scott stared at the message again.

His instincts screamed the truth before his mind could accept it.

Something had just declared war.

And this time…

It wasn't just coming for him.

It was coming for all of them.

Somewhere far away…

The ancient door opened a little wider.

And in the darkness behind it…

Something smiled.
