Chapter 1 - A Contact That Became Love

Rain was falling softly over the city when Ayan Rahman walked into the lawyer's office. His face looked calm, but inside his mind everything felt like a storm.

Across the table sat a young woman named Naira Ahmed. She looked confident, though her fingers nervously tapped the table.

The lawyer cleared his throat.

"Both of you understand that this is a contract marriage for one year only. After that, you are free to divorce without any legal or financial complications."

Ayan nodded.

Naira also nodded quietly.

But the truth was, neither of them imagined how much their lives would change.

---

Why They Agreed

Ayan was the only son of a wealthy businessman. His father was very sick and had only one wish before he died—he wanted to see Ayan married.

But Ayan didn't believe in love anymore. His previous relationship had broken his trust completely.

Marriage, to him, felt like a cage.

So he made a deal.

A contract marriage for one year. Just to make his father happy.

After that, they would go their separate ways.

---

Naira had her own reasons.

Her younger brother needed expensive medical treatment. Her job alone wasn't enough to pay the hospital bills.

When she heard about Ayan's offer through a mutual lawyer, she agreed.

In return for the one-year marriage, Ayan would pay for her brother's treatment.

To Naira, it was simply a sacrifice.

Nothing more.

No emotions.

No love.

Just a contract.

---

The Rules

On the first day after their wedding, Ayan handed Naira a paper.

"Rules," he said calmly.

Naira raised an eyebrow. "Rules?"

Ayan nodded.

"Rule one: We act like a happy couple in front of others."

"Rule two: No interference in each other's personal lives."

"Rule three: After one year, we divorce peacefully."

Naira read the paper slowly.

Then she smiled slightly.

"Okay," she said. "But I also have a rule."

Ayan looked surprised.

"What is it?"

Naira replied softly,

"Rule four: Respect."

For a moment, Ayan didn't say anything.

Then he nodded.

"Fair enough."

---

Living Together

At first, their life together was awkward.

They lived in the same house but like strangers.

Breakfast was quiet.

Dinner was silent.

Sometimes days passed without more than a few words between them.

But slowly… things began to change.

---

One evening, Naira found Ayan sitting alone on the balcony.

The city lights reflected in his eyes.

"Can't sleep?" she asked.

Ayan sighed.

"Too much work."

Naira brought him a cup of tea.

"I didn't know you drink tea," he said.

"I didn't know you stay awake all night either," she replied.

For the first time, Ayan smiled.

It was small, but real.

---

The Small Moments

Days turned into weeks.

Weeks turned into months.

Naira filled the quiet house with warmth.

She cooked for him.

She laughed loudly while watching movies.

She placed flowers in the living room.

The house that once felt empty slowly started to feel like home.

And Ayan noticed everything.

Even the smallest things.

The way she hummed songs while cooking.

The way she worried about her brother.

The way she smiled even when she was tired.

Without realizing it…

Ayan began waiting to hear her voice.

---

The Realization

One night, Ayan returned home late.

The house was dark.

But the kitchen light was on.

Naira was asleep at the table.

Beside her was a plate of food covered carefully.

A note was placed beside it.

"Eat before sleeping. Working too much isn't healthy."

Ayan stared at the note for a long time.

Something warm filled his chest.

Something unfamiliar.

Something he had been afraid of for years.

Love.

---

The Problem

But time didn't stop.

Ten months had passed.

The contract was almost over.

One evening Naira said quietly,

"Two months left."

Ayan looked at her.

She forced a smile.

"Your freedom is coming soon."

The words felt like knives.

Ayan suddenly realized something terrifying.

He didn't want freedom anymore.

He wanted her.

---

The Confession

On the final day of the contract, the lawyer prepared the divorce papers.

Naira signed them without hesitation.

She stood up to leave.

"Thank you for everything," she said politely.

Ayan didn't move.

"Naira."

She turned.

"Yes?"

For the first time since they met…

Ayan looked nervous.

"This marriage started with a contract," he said slowly.

"But my feelings didn't."

Naira froze.

Ayan continued,

"I thought love was a lie. But you proved me wrong."

He took a deep breath.

"So… instead of signing a new contract…"

He held out his hand.

"Will you marry me again?"

"This time… for real?"

Tears filled Naira's eyes.

"You're late," she whispered.

Ayan looked confused.

"What do you mean?"

Naira smiled through her tears.

"Because I fell in love with you months ago."

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then Ayan laughed softly.

The lawyer sighed dramatically.

"So… I assume the divorce is cancelled?"

Ayan and Naira looked at each other.

And together they said,

"Yes."

Epilogue

Sometimes love doesn't begin with destiny.

Sometimes it begins with a contract.

But when two hearts slowly learn to understand each other…

Even a temporary promise can turn into forever
