Chapter 2 - The First Man Who Noticed Her

Morning sunlight slowly filled the halls of Alexander Volkov's mansion.

The house was already awake.

Staff members moved quietly through the corridors, preparing everything for another day in one of the most powerful homes in Valmont. Sara walked carefully across the marble floor, carrying a small tray with fresh coffee.

She was still learning the structure of the house. Everything here felt too big. Too luxurious.

Too different from the life she had known in her small village. Back there, mornings meant roosters crowing and the smell of fresh bread.

Here…Morning smelled like polished marble, expensive perfume, and silence. She stopped near a tall window and looked outside. The garden stretched endlessly.

For a moment she wondered what kind of life people like Alexander Volkov lived every day, People with that much power, That much money.

A quiet voice behind her broke her thoughts, "You must be the new girl." Sara turned slowly.

The woman standing there was Elena, the house manager. Elena studied her again with that same sharp look she had the day before, "You will assist during today's meeting," Elena said calmly.

Sara blinked slightly. "Meeting?" "Yes."

Elena adjusted a folder in her hands, "Mr. Volkov is expecting an important guest." Her voice became slightly more serious. "One of the most influential men in Valmont."

Sara nodded quietly, she didn't ask questions. But something about Elena's tone made it clear…This guest was not ordinary.

Upstairs, in a private office surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, Alexander Volkov was already working, his desk was covered with documents and financial reports.

His calm grey eyes scanned numbers worth millions of dollars. Powerful men rarely rested and Alexander Volkov was no exception. At fifty-one, he had built an empire most businessmen could only dream about, shipping companies, International investments.

luxury hotels across three continents.

People respected him, Many feared him.

But very few truly understood him.

Alexander leaned back slightly in his chair. For a moment, his mind returned to something unusual from yesterday. The new girl, Sara.

He frowned slightly. It wasn't her beauty that disturbed his thoughts. He had seen beautiful women all his life but there was something else about her, something unpredictable, Something dangerous. He didn't like mysteries And Sara felt like one.

A knock interrupted his thoughts "Come in."

Elena entered the room; "Mr. Volkov, your guest has arrived."

Alexander nodded calmly; "Send him in."

Downstairs, Sara stood quietly near the entrance hall, she held a tray with two glasses and a bottle of expensive mineral water. Elena had instructed her to remain silent and professional. "Just serve and leave," she had said. Sara nodded to herself.

Simple enough. But when the large front doors opened… The atmosphere in the mansion changed instantly, the man who entered carried power with him.

Not loud power, not aggressive power. But the kind that made people look twice.

His name was Victor Hale.

And in the world of Valmont's elite, that name meant one thing. Influence.

Victor Hale was forty-five years old and one of the youngest billionaires in the country. He had built a financial empire through aggressive investments and ruthless business strategies, Banks listened when he spoke, Politicians returned his calls.

Entire companies collapsed when he decided they should. Tall, confident, and perfectly dressed in a dark tailored suit, Victor Hale walked into the mansion as if he owned the place.

His sharp eyes quickly scanned the elegant hall.

Then…

They stopped.

On Sara.

For a brief moment, Victor Hale forgot what he was about to say.

He had seen models.

Actresses.

Women whose beauty filled magazines.

But the young woman standing near the staircase…

Was something else.

Natural.

Effortless.

Dangerous.

Sara noticed his gaze.

She lowered her eyes politely, exactly as Elena had instructed.

But the effect had already happened.

Victor Hale smiled slightly.

"Well," he murmured quietly.

"That's new."

Alexander Volkov entered the hall a few seconds later.

The moment his eyes moved toward Victor, he noticed something unusual.

Victor Hale was not looking at him.

He was looking at Sara.

Alexander followed the direction of his gaze.

For a moment the room felt very quiet.

Sara stood calmly with the tray in her hands.

Alexander's expression remained controlled.

But something cold moved behind his grey eyes.

He walked toward Victor slowly.

"Victor."

Victor finally turned.

"Alexander."

The two men shook hands.

Both powerful.

Both dangerous in their own ways.

But Victor's attention briefly returned to Sara again.

"New staff?" he asked casually.

Alexander's voice was calm.

"Yes."

Victor smiled slightly.

"You hire interesting people."

Sara stepped forward gently and placed the tray on a nearby table.

Her movements were quiet.

Graceful.

Unintentional elegance.

Victor watched every second.

Alexander noticed.

And he didn't like it.

"Thank you," Alexander told Sara calmly.

"You may go."

Sara nodded politely and left the room.

But as she walked away…

Victor Hale's eyes followed her.

A few minutes later, the meeting began in Alexander's private office.

But Victor Hale's thoughts were no longer entirely focused on business.

Instead…

He was thinking about the girl in the hallway.

Sara.

Something about her presence felt unusual.

Almost like fate had placed her in that house at the right moment.

Victor leaned back slightly in his chair.

"You didn't mention you had hired someone new."

Alexander's voice remained neutral.

"It wasn't important."

Victor smiled.

"Oh, I think it might become important."

Alexander said nothing.

But inside his mind, something had already begun.

A small warning.

Because powerful men rarely shared anything they desired.

And Victor Hale was not known for giving up easily.

Somewhere else in the mansion…

Sara returned to the staff corridor.

She exhaled softly.

The meeting had felt strange.

The man who had arrived carried an energy she couldn't fully understand, Power, confidence, danger.

She didn't know his name, she didn't know his position.

But she understood one thing clearly.

Men like that…

Were not used to hearing the word no.

Sara walked slowly toward her room, unaware that the first thread of a dangerous story had just begun.

Because Victor Hale would not forget her and he would not be the last powerful man to notice Sara.

Not even close. In the city of Valmont… Six more men were waiting.

Men whose lives would soon collide with hers.

And when powerful men begin to fight for the same woman…

Someone always loses. Sometimes everything.

And sometimes… Their lives. 💔
