One afternoon Ethan was walking through the city park when he heard people shouting.
"Help! Someone help!"
A group of criminals were robbing a jewelry store across the street. They wore black masks and carried bags filled with stolen items.
People ran in fear as the criminals escaped.
Ethan's heart pounded.
"I can't just stand here," he thought.
He quickly pulled his hoodie over his head and ran toward the scene. Electricity began to glow around his hands.
One of the criminals laughed. "Nobody can stop us!"
But suddenly a flash of lightning struck the ground in front of them.
BOOM!
The criminals jumped in surprise.
Ethan stepped forward.
"Actually… I can."
He lifted his hand and released a bolt of lightning that knocked one robber's weapon out of his hand. Another robber tried to run, but Ethan moved faster than a flash, blocking his path.
Within seconds the criminals were on the ground.
The police arrived soon after and arrested them.
People gathered around in amazement.
"Who is that kid?" someone asked.
But Ethan had already disappeared into the crowd.
That night, the news reported the event.
"A mysterious hero stopped a robbery today," the reporter said. "Witnesses say he used lightning powers."
Ethan watched the news quietly from his couch.
A small smile appeared on his face.
