Chapter 1 - the secret i married

Episode 1: The Wedding That Changed Everything

The rain had just stopped when Meera stepped out of the taxi.

The air smelled fresh, the roads shining under the yellow streetlights. Her red wedding saree dragged slightly across the wet pavement as she slowly walked toward the large house in front of her.

This was her new home.

But something about it felt… strange.

The house stood tall and silent, like it was watching her.

"Come inside, child," an elderly woman said gently.

Meera looked up. It was her mother-in-law.

She forced a small smile and walked in.

Tonight was supposed to be the happiest night of her life.

She had just married Arjun.

A man she barely knew.

The Arranged Marriage

Just two weeks earlier, Meera had been living a completely normal life.

She worked as a graphic designer in Bengaluru and lived with her parents.

One evening her father called her to the living room.

"Meera, sit down. We need to talk."

That sentence alone made her nervous.

Her mother was sitting beside him with a hopeful smile.

"Your father's friend has a son. Very successful businessman. Good family. They saw your photo and liked you."

Meera sighed.

"Appa… not this again."

But her father looked serious.

"This boy is different. His name is Arjun. He runs a tech company in the city. Very responsible. Very respectful."

Her mother added softly, "At least meet him once."

Reluctantly, Meera agreed.

The First Meeting

They met in a quiet café.

Meera arrived first and nervously checked her phone again and again.

Then she saw him walking in.

Arjun.

Tall. Calm. Confident.

But there was something unusual about him.

His eyes looked distant… almost like he was hiding something.

"Hi, Meera," he said politely, sitting across from her.

His voice was deep but soft.

They talked about simple things at first.

Work. Family. Hobbies.

Arjun spoke less but listened carefully.

At one point he asked something unexpected.

"If you marry someone… do you believe love can grow later?"

Meera looked surprised.

"I think… respect and honesty matter first. Love can grow with time."

For the first time, Arjun smiled.

A real smile.

And strangely, that smile made her heart calm.

Two days later the families fixed the wedding.

Everything happened so fast.

The Wedding Day

The wedding was grand.

Lights. Music. Relatives everywhere.

Meera barely had time to breathe.

Arjun looked handsome in his traditional sherwani, but he remained quiet through most of the ceremony.

Sometimes she caught him staring at her.

Not romantically.

More like he was studying her.

Or worrying about something.

Just before the final ritual, he leaned slightly closer and whispered something that confused her.

"Meera… no matter what happens… trust me."

She blinked in surprise.

"What do you mean?"

But the priest interrupted.

The wedding was complete.

They were now husband and wife.

The First Night

Back in the house, Meera was led to a beautifully decorated room.

Flowers covered the bed.

Candles flickered softly.

She sat nervously, waiting.

Minutes passed.

Then an hour.

Finally the door opened.

Arjun walked in.

But something was wrong.

He looked tense.

Almost… scared.

"Meera," he said quietly.

"Yes?"

He took a deep breath.

"I need to tell you something important."

Her heart started beating faster.

"What is it?"

He looked at her seriously.

"This marriage… happened faster than I planned."

Meera frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Before he could answer, a loud sound came from outside.

Someone shouting.

Then footsteps running.

Arjun rushed to the window and looked outside.

His face turned pale.

"They found me."

Meera stood up, confused.

"Who?"

Arjun turned toward her.

And for the first time she saw pure fear in his eyes.

"Meera… if anyone asks about me… tell them you don't know where I went."

Her heart dropped.

"Wait… what?!"

But before she could stop him, Arjun opened the balcony door.

And disappeared into the night.

Leaving his bride alone.

On their wedding night.

Meera stood frozen.

Her husband had just run away.

And she had no idea why.

But deep inside… she knew something dangerous had just begun.
