Chapter 5
The west hallway of Mayari Manor was quieter than the rest of the house.
Hallia Delan had been told to clean the guest rooms before sunrise, but the corridors twisted in unfamiliar directions, and the map the head maid had given her suddenly seemed useless.
She carried a basket of fresh sheets as she walked slowly.
Left.
Right.
Another hallway.
Then she stopped.
A large black door stood at the end of the corridor. Unlike the others, this one was carved with intricate wolf symbols. Hallia frowned. This wasn't on the map. She stepped closer. The door was slightly open.
Inside, the room looked dark and enormous.
Curiosity got the better of her. She pushed the door open.
The room inside was unlike any she had seen in the manor. Large windows overlooked a lake. Weapons hung on the walls, along with maps and battle charts.
A massive desk sat near the center of the room and beside the fireplace stood a tall bookshelf filled with ancient.-looking books.
Hallia's eyes widened.
This must be the Alpha's study.
Her heart raced.
She should leave immediately.
But one book lying open on the desk caught her attention.
Old parchment pages.
Strange symbols.
Carefully, she stepped closer.
The page showed a drawing of a woman standing beside a wolf.
But the words written beneath it made Hallia's stomach tighten.
" When the moon chooses a human heart, the Luna of Prophecy will rise."
Hallia blinked.
" A human Luna?"
Suddenly ___
A deep voice spoke behind her.
"You're somewhere you shouldn't be." Hallia froze. Slowly she turned around.
Alpha Orion Rigel stood in the doorway.
And he looked very unhappy.
