Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Orphan Soldier

The snow-covered valleys of Kashmir looked peaceful from afar, but beneath that beauty lived constant tension.

At an Indian Army camp, soldiers stood guard along the border between India and Pakistan.

Among them was Lieutenant Ram, a brave soldier known for his kindness and courage.

Unlike many others, Ram had no family.

No parents.

No siblings.

No one waiting for him at home.

He grew up in orphanages across the country, learning early that life was never easy. Yet Ram never allowed loneliness to make him bitter.

Instead, he chose to protect others.

"Why do you smile so much?" one soldier once asked him.

Ram laughed softly.

"Because someone has to."

His warmth made him loved by everyone in the army camp.

One evening, during a radio broadcast meant to boost soldiers' morale, Ram spoke briefly about his life.

He simply said:

"I may not have a family, but this country is my family."

The speech spread across the nation.

People were touched by the lonely soldier who served with such dedication.

Soon something unexpected happened.

Letters started arriving.

Hundreds of them.

Then thousands.

From children, mothers, elderly people, and strangers across India.

They all wrote to Ram, calling him their son, brother, or friend.

Ram felt overwhelmed with gratitude.

But among those letters, one stood out.

A letter written in elegant handwriting.

It started with a surprising line:

"Dear Ram… your wife Sita Mahalakshmi is writing to you."

Ram stared at the words in confusion.

"My… wife?" he murmured.

The other soldiers laughed.

"Looks like someone secretly married you!" they joked.

But Ram felt curious.

He had never met anyone named Sita Mahalakshmi.

Yet the letter felt strangely warm, as if it came from someone who truly knew him.

He folded the letter carefully and kept it close to his heart.

Without realizing it, that letter had already begun the most beautiful story of his life
