Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Dreams and Innocence

Ada grew up in a loving home where kindness and discipline shaped her childhood. Her mother was a hardworking trader who sold foodstuff in the local market, while her father worked as a printer. Though their life was modest, their home was filled with laughter, encouragement, and the warmth of family.

Ada was the second child in a family of four. She had an older sister whom she admired deeply, and two younger siblings — a boy and a girl. From childhood, her sister had always been her role model. Ada would often look at her with admiration and say, "I love the woman my sister is becoming and who she is."

Her sister was everything Ada wished to be — confident, respectful, and wise.

When Ada's sister was in polytechnic, she met the man who later became her husband. Their relationship grew stronger over time, and eventually they got married. What fascinated Ada most was that her sister married the first man she ever loved.

That story shaped Ada's beliefs about love.

In her innocent mind, she promised herself something: the man who would ever disflower her would be the one she would marry.

Life, however, rarely follows the plans we make in our hearts.

Before Ada gained admission into polytechnic, she had a boyfriend named Dimeji. Their relationship started innocently and grew into something beautiful. Dimeji cared about her deeply, and Ada believed she had found someone who truly loved her.

But not everyone around Ada was happy for her.

Some of her friends secretly envied her relationship. Instead of supporting her, they began planting dangerous ideas in her mind.

"Why are you so loyal?" one of them said. "You should explore. Date other guys too."

At first, Ada refused. She loved Dimeji and saw no reason to betray him.

But constant persuasion slowly weakened her resolve.

One day, her friends convinced her to meet another guy named Samad. They told her it was harmless and that she deserved to have more fun in her life.

Ada didn't realize it was a trap.

When she arrived at Samad's place, he welcomed her warmly. They talked casually, laughed, and exchanged friendly conversations. Everything felt normal.

Until he suddenly suggested something shocking.

He asked Ada if they could record a romantic video together.

Ada hesitated. Something about the request felt uncomfortable, but she didn't want him to think she didn't care about him or that she was rude. Against her better judgment, she agreed.

After the video, she returned home feeling uneasy but tried to ignore the strange feeling in her heart.

The next evening, Ada was chatting with Dimeji when he suddenly sent her a screenshot.

It was a message from Samad.

"Do you know this girl?" Samad had asked him.

Dimeji replied yes.

Then Samad sent another message.

"She's your ex-girlfriend lol."

Ada's heart stopped.

Her body went cold as panic filled her chest. She didn't know what to say or how to explain the situation.

For several minutes she went offline, staring blankly at her phone.

When she returned, another message popped up.

It was Samad again — mocking her.

He told her that the entire relationship had been a setup from the beginning.

Her own friends had arranged it.

Tears filled Ada's eyes as the truth hit her. She had been manipulated.

Immediately she blocked Samad and rushed to Dimeji's chat to explain everything. She begged him to believe her.

Dimeji was deeply disappointed.

After listening to her explanation, he asked her a painful question.

"If you were in my shoes, what would you do?"

Ada had no answer.

She cried and begged him for forgiveness, explaining that she never knew it was a setup.

Eventually, Dimeji told her he had forgiven her.

But Ada's heart remained restless.

She couldn't shake the feeling that something had broken between them. She feared that maybe Dimeji was only pretending to forgive her because she once promised him that he would be the one to take her virginity.

The thought haunted her.

What if he was only waiting for revenge?

Unable to bear the uncertainty, Ada made a difficult decision.

She ended the relationship herself.

That day marked the beginning of Ada's complicated journey with love.
