Chapter 2 - The last letter for love

The Last Letter – Part 2💔

The rain continued to fall outside, gentle but steady, as Maya sat by the window with Arjun's letter in her hands.

Her heart was heavy with memories she thought she had buried long ago.

For years, she had tried to move forward. She built a quiet life for herself, filled her days with work, friends, and routine. But a small part of her heart had always remained in the past — in a time when Arjun's laughter filled her world.

She read the letter again.

"If destiny is kind and our paths cross again…"

The words lingered in her mind.

Was it really possible?

Maya slowly stood up and walked to the old bookshelf in the corner of the room. Inside was a small photo frame she had never had the courage to throw away.

It was a picture of them during their college days — sitting on the campus steps, smiling like the world belonged to them.

She traced the edge of the photograph softly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she whispered into the quiet room.

Outside, the rain began to grow heavier.

Just then, a soft knock echoed at the front door.

Maya froze.

No one ever visited this late, especially on a rainy evening.

The knock came again.

Her heart began to beat faster as she slowly walked toward the door. For a moment, she hesitated, her hand hovering over the handle.

Then she opened it.

Standing in the rain, soaked and breathless, was a man she had once known better than anyone.

Older now. Tired. But unmistakable.

Arjun.

For a long moment, neither of them spoke.

The rain fell between them like the years they had lost.

Finally, Arjun gave a small, nervous smile.

"I guess," he said softly, "destiny decided to be kind after all."

Maya felt tears well in her eyes again.

Because some letters don't just carry memories.

Sometimes…

They bring love back home.
