Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: A New Trainee

[System Notification]: New training target added — Amber

Name: Amber

Level: Lv5

Element: Pyro

Skills: Baron Bunny Lv1, Fiery Rain Lv1

Jiang Chen checked the system panel.

Amber had helped Lumine defeat three shield hilichurls earlier on the outer platform, and now she had defeated three more on her own.

She had jumped two levels at once.

Lumine had also leveled up, now reaching Lv4.

Because Jiang Chen had previously trained Fischl, he already knew that leveling up in the early stages was relatively easy, so he wasn't particularly surprised.

"Here."

Lumine took out a white handkerchief embroidered with golden flowers from her pocket and handed it to Amber.

"You should be the one using it."

Amber smiled.

She simply wiped the sweat off her face with her sleeve.

After fighting both the slime hilichurl and the archer hilichurls, Lumine's appearance was also quite messy.

"I'm fine."

Lumine shook her head.

Then she looked toward the other exit of the hall, her brows slightly furrowed.

There was only a small platform there.

Beyond it was a cliff with no visible path forward.

However, a Pyro elemental monument stood there.

"As expected—since this was once a temple, there must be a way up."

Amber immediately understood.

She raised her bow.

A charged arrow shot toward the Pyro monument.

The flame ignited the monument.

Suddenly, a powerful updraft surged from below the cliff.

The three of them nearly lost their balance as the wind shook the ground beneath them.

"A mechanism?"

Lumine realized.

"Yep! Let's fly up!"

Amber spread her Wind Glider and jumped upward.

"Let's go too."

Jiang Chen followed.

Riding the updraft, he landed in front of the highest chamber of the temple.

"That's the concentration point of the dragon's energy."

"According to Lisa, Stormterror is using this to draw power from the temple's remaining energy."

Amber pointed toward a dark green stone wrapped in swirling wind energy at the center of the hall.

She drew another charged arrow.

Using the reaction between Pyro and Anemo, she shattered the stone.

Only then did she let out a relieved sigh.

"That should do it."

"The Temple of the West Wind Eagle is finally cleared."

"That was exhausting."

"At least we helped lighten Jean's burden."

Amber said happily.

They could clearly feel that once the stone was destroyed, the dragon's power inside the temple rapidly faded away.

The three of them returned along the same path.

"In the past, our defenses could at least keep Mondstadt safe."

"Simply put, that's because Jean was here."

"But now Stormterror has attacked inside the city…"

"The winds have changed, so our strategy must change as well."

Amber explained as they walked.

"That sounds very philosophical."

Lumine said, only half understanding since she wasn't from Mondstadt.

Amber blushed slightly.

"That's something Lisa likes to say."

"If there's anything you don't understand, you can ask her."

"Just to clarify—it's not that I don't know much!"

She waved her hands.

"It's just that Lisa is the librarian, so her knowledge is naturally broader than a reconnaissance knight's."

"Is that so?"

Lumine murmured.

But her eyes quietly glanced at the boy beside her.

He seemed to know a lot about everything.

Maybe she didn't need to ask Lisa at all.

The three of them returned to the temple entrance.

From there, they could see Mondstadt in the distance.

Dark clouds still filled the sky, and the storm continued raging.

The problem clearly wasn't solved yet.

"Kaeya and Lisa haven't finished yet?"

Jiang Chen inferred from the situation.

"The Temple of the Wolf of the North and the Temple of the Lion of the South are farther away than the Temple of the West Wind Eagle."

"They're also more dangerous."

Amber said naturally.

"Even if Kaeya and Lisa are strong, they can't finish that quickly."

If Jiang Chen and Lumine hadn't helped, she wouldn't have finished this temple so fast either.

"Should we go help them?"

Lumine asked proactively.

She was actually quite interested in the hilichurls and slimes inside those temples.

They might help her grow stronger, too.

Jiang Chen looked at her eager expression and felt slightly speechless.

Why did this girl seem like a battle enthusiast?

He was about to respond—

When suddenly a figure running from Mondstadt's city gate bridge caught his attention.

At a time like this, ordinary citizens were hiding indoors.

Only Knights of Favonius should be moving around outside.

Anyone else appearing here was suspicious.

The man approaching had a cold expression.

He wore a black-and-gold noble coat over a white shirt, elegant and refined.

His slightly curled red hair was tied into a ponytail behind him.

Sharp crimson eyes, black gloves, trousers, and tall boots completed his appearance.

He combined handsomeness and elegance perfectly.

"Oh?"

He seemed to notice the three of them and smiled slightly.

"Boss Jiang Chen—since when did you start adventuring with little girls from the Knights?"

Amber clenched her fists indignantly.

Paimon immediately joined her in protest.

After all, Amber had just become her new friend.

More importantly—

Amber had promised to treat her to a big meal.

Paimon pointed at the man with her tiny finger.

"Hey, red-hair!"

"Yes, you!"

"Don't call her a little girl! Amber is really strong—you shouldn't underestimate her!"

"Oh? Really?"

The man replied with an amused expression.

"You—"

Paimon floated forward angrily.

But Jiang Chen stopped her.

Then he looked at the man.

"Going out at a time like this… where are you headed, Diluc?"

"With your intelligence, Boss Jiang Chen, you should already know."

Diluc waved casually.

"I'll go ahead."

After saying that, he walked past them without stopping.

Jiang Chen watched his departing figure.

Then he glanced at the cute reconnaissance knight beside him.

He fell into deep thought.

Question:

Now that I already have Amber…

Do I still need to train Diluc too?
