MY LIGHTNING ROGUE SYSTEM CHAPTER 1: DOOMSDAY
Mike Onsworth was your typical high school background character who always blended in with the surrounding atmosphere. Any achievement he made would be automatically transferred one way or the other into someone else's. So, just as you would expect, he was pretty much invisible to everyone, his classmates, his teachers, even his own parents who paid more attention to his older brother Matthew, and his little sister Miranda. He was pretty much used to it so he never bothered to complain as long as he was eating 3 square meals a day everything was alright in his world.
One day while mike was fast asleep in his room, he heard the sound of a crash like that of an airplane continuously repeating itself. It replayed over and over again until it suddenly became a shrill cut throat scream of a woman. He stood up from bed with a start and as he looked out the window, everywhere suddenly turned red as he spotted a little below 50 glowing red meteors littered across the planes, roads, and houses of the estate he lived in.
As he looked towards the red glowing sky, his brown hair began to roughen and his dark eyes shone, as he looked up to see his possible demise staring back at him. It was a giant flaming meteor crashing straight down at his bedroom ceiling. At that point he knew if he didn't do something then he would be dead for sure. A sudden burst of energy surged through him as he grabbed hold of the window and threw himself out of the house. But he was too late, he had forgotten about all those movies he watched about the end of the world.
As soon as he got to the end of the 3 storey building, he felt a quick and sharp pain in legs, and that was when it hit him that he had just jumped of a 3 storey building. He cried out in pain, it was a sudden shrill note that nobody else heard. For he had not enough strength to cry out hard enough for even if he did, no one would have heard him because most of them were dead and the ones who heard were too badly injured, or traumatized to move. The meteor suddenly crashed into his house and landed on the ground with a giant shockwave of debris and flames, He raised his left hand to shield himself from the heat, but was blown back by the debris which followed it. He was blown back about half a mile until he was stopped by the building he once recognized as the supermarket.
He then tried to use his hands to support himself then he realized that one his arms were missing; the same one had used to shield himself from the heat. He somehow managed to use one hand to sit up he had no strength to scream in pain or try to crawl away to safety that is, if any where was safe at all. He watched in horror as the place he once called home, was now a smouldering mess of debris and which had by now blown up in flames.
Then suddenly he saw something moving under all the debris he could make out the figure of an arm being raised up, and then another arm which was also raised, then came a shrill and painful cry which he recognized to be his mother's " please…. Help….. Me", then silence. A sudden jolt of adrenaline surged through him as he rose to his feet with a sudden push of his arm against the wall. As he rose to his feet he felt a sharp pain in his legs and he slumped back unto the wall.
He began to hopelessly crawl with one arm, he crawled till he reached the place he once knew as home, he stretched forth his only good arm to meet the hand of his mother he began to pull her out gently, a few seconds had passed like this before he realized that he was pulling a dead body. He cried out loudly but no one was there to hear him, they were all dead. He sat there slumped on the ground looking into the now red sky he sighed "so this is the end huh". He then saw a meteor coming straight towards him, smiled and stared death right in the face. BOOOM!!!!
