Chapter 2 - A New Opportunity

The next morning started like any other day for Arjun. The sun slowly rose over the small town, and the streets began filling with people heading to work and school.

Arjun finished his breakfast quickly and left for the electronics shop. As he walked through the busy market, he greeted a few familiar faces. Everyone in the town seemed to know each other.

When he reached the shop, Mr. Verma was already arranging new mobile accessories on the shelf.

"Good morning, sir," Arjun said.

"Good morning, Arjun," Mr. Verma replied. "We might have a busy day today."

Arjun nodded and began cleaning the counter. Soon the first customers started arriving.

One customer needed a charger, another wanted a phone cover, and someone else came with a broken phone screen.

Arjun carefully helped each person. Over the months, he had become more confident in his work.

Around noon, a young man walked into the shop carrying a laptop bag. He looked different from most customers—his clothes were more formal, and he seemed to be in a hurry.

"Excuse me," the man said. "Is there someone who can fix laptops here?"

Mr. Verma looked at the laptop and then at Arjun.

"Arjun, check it," he said.

Arjun felt slightly nervous, but he took the laptop and examined it carefully. The screen was flickering, and the system was running very slowly.

He opened the laptop and checked the internal connections. After working on it for nearly thirty minutes, he managed to fix the loose cable and clean some dust inside.

When he turned the laptop on again, the screen worked perfectly.

The customer smiled.

"That was fast," he said. "You did a great job."

"Thank you," Arjun replied politely.

The man looked at Arjun for a moment and asked, "Have you ever thought about working in a bigger place? Maybe in a city?"

Arjun was surprised by the question.

"Well… I have thought about it," he admitted. "But I've always lived here."

The man nodded.

"I work in Patna at a small tech office," he said. "We sometimes need people who understand electronics and computers."

Arjun's heart started beating faster. This was the first time someone had mentioned such an opportunity to him.

Before leaving, the man handed Arjun a small card.

"If you ever decide to try something new, call this number," he said.

After the customer left, Arjun stood quietly for a moment, looking at the card in his hand.

Mr. Verma noticed.

"What happened?" he asked.

Arjun showed him the card and explained the conversation.

Mr. Verma smiled slightly.

"Opportunities don't come often," he said. "But when they do, you should at least think about them."

All afternoon, Arjun couldn't stop thinking about it.

A job in the city?

A new life?

The idea felt exciting but also a little scary.

That evening, after the shop closed, Arjun walked home slowly. The market lights were glowing, and the cool evening breeze moved through the streets.

When he reached home, his sister noticed that he looked thoughtful.

"What happened?" she asked.

"Nothing," Arjun said, though his mind was still full of questions.

Later that night, he went to the roof again and looked up at the stars.

In his hand was the small card the customer had given him.

Maybe this was the opportunity he had been waiting for.

Or maybe it was just another moment that would pass.

But deep inside, Arjun felt that his life might soon take a new direction.

And sometimes, the smallest opportunities can lead to the biggest changes.
