Chapter 3 - Chapter 2(revised version)

The East Blue sun was a relentless forge, beating down on the vast, cerulean expanse of the ocean. To any ordinary sailor, it was a source of heatstroke and exhaustion. But for me, it was a battery. Every photon that struck my skin was absorbed, processed, and converted into raw, celestial energy. I could feel my cells humming, a quiet vibration of power that felt like a localized sun burning within my chest.I sat on the wooden railing of our small dinghy, my legs dangling over the side. My white hair, a stark contrast to the deep blue of the sea, caught the light in a way that made it appear to be made of spun glass. Beside me, Luffy was sprawled out, his straw hat tipped over his eyes, snoring with a rhythmic intensity that matched the lapping of the waves."Silver-san..." Coby's voice was small, trembling with the same anxiety that had plagued him since we left Alvida's ship. He was staring at the Silver Ring on my finger. "That... that thing you did with the sea beast. You said it was a 'concept.' I've heard of Devil Fruits, but I've never heard of one that lets you just... make treasures out of thin air."I adjusted my dark, circular sunglasses, looking toward the horizon where the silhouette of a massive Marine base was beginning to rise. "The world is bigger than you think, Coby. Most people see the fruit as a set of rules. I see it as a suggestion. If my mind can conceive of a void, and my power has the energy to fuel it, why shouldn't the ring exist?""Because it's impossible!" Coby squeaked."Impossible is a word for people who haven't met a God yet," I said, a small smirk playing on my lips.I stood up, waking Luffy with a light tap of my foot. "Wake up, Captain. We're here. Shells Town."Luffy sat up, stretching his rubbery arms until they hit the mast. "MEAT! I smell meat and adventure! Silver, let's go! I'm gonna find that Demon Swordsman!"Shells Town was a place of forced order. The streets were clean, the buildings were white, and the people... the people were terrified. As we walked through the market, the atmosphere was heavy, like the air before a lightning strike."Everyone is so quiet," Coby whispered, pulling his cap low. "This is a Marine town, shouldn't they feel safe?""They feel like they're under a boot," I noted, my celestial blue eyes scanning the town. I could see the minute tremors in the hands of the shopkeepers. I could hear the accelerated heartbeats of the citizens as they watched a Marine patrol pass by. "Order without justice is just a well-decorated prison."We reached the high walls of the Marine Base, a fortress that loomed over the town like a tombstone. There, tied to a wooden cross in the center of a barren courtyard, was a man.Roronoa Zoro.He looked like a corpse at first glance—battered, dehydrated, and covered in the dust of a thousand suns. But as we approached the fence, I felt it. A sharp, jagged aura. Even at the brink of death, the man's spirit was a blade that refused to dull."Hey! You! Join my crew!" Luffy shouted, hanging off the fence like a monkey.Zoro slowly raised his head. His green hair was matted with dirt, and one eye was swollen shut, but the other burned with a lethal intensity. "Go away, kid. You're bothering my nap.""I'm gonna be the King of the Pirates!" Luffy announced, as if that explained everything. "And I want a strong swordsman. You're strong, right?""Strong enough to kill you if I wasn't tied up," Zoro rasped."Silver! He's cool! He's definitely joining!" Luffy cheered."I agree," I said, stepping up to the fence. Zoro's gaze shifted to me, and for the first time, he looked truly confused. He saw my white hair, my designer-style black suit, and the way the sun seemed to focus its light directly onto me."What are you?" Zoro asked, his voice a low growl. "You don't look like a pirate. You look like a statue that walked off a pedestal.""I'm the man who's going to untie you," I said. Before Zoro could respond, the sound of rhythmic clicking—the sound of polished boots on stone—echoed through the yard. A young man with a bowl-cut and a suit that cost more than a small house strutted into the courtyard, flanked by two armed Marines.Helmeppo."Still alive, Roronoa?" Helmeppo sneered, holding a bar of chocolate. "You've got ten days left. If you can survive without food or water, I might—might—let you live. Though, my father might have other ideas."He turned his gaze toward us, his expression shifting to one of disgust. "Who allowed these peasants in here? This is a restricted execution ground! Guards! Arrest them!""We were just talking," Luffy said, picking his nose."Talking to a criminal is a crime!" Helmeppo shrieked. "And you! The one with the white hair! You're wearing a suit that's better than mine! That's an insult to the Marine rank! Guards! Ready your weapons!"Ten Marines stepped forward, their rifles snapping into position. The metallic clack of the bolts echoed in the quiet yard."Silver-san! Luffy! Run!" Coby screamed, diving into the dirt.Zoro watched, his jaw tightening. "Hey! Kid! Get out of here! They'll actually shoot!"I didn't move. I didn't even take my hands out of my pockets. I simply stepped in front of Luffy, my back to the Marines. "Luffy, do you want to handle this, or should I?""You do it, Silver! Show 'em the 'statue' thing!""FIRE!" Helmeppo roared. The rifles barked in unison. Ten lead bullets, propelled by black powder, streaked through the air. In my eyes, they moved like slow-motion flies. I could see the rifling on the lead, the heat shimmering off the metal. I didn't move. I let them hit.PING. CLINK. TINK.The bullets didn't pierce my black jacket. They didn't even leave a mark. As they struck my chest, the lead flattened instantly, losing all kinetic energy as if they had hit a mountain of solid tungsten. The deformed bits of lead fell into the dust, spinning harmlessly. The courtyard went deathly silent. Even the wind seemed to stop blowing.Helmeppo's chocolate bar fell from his hand, thumping into the dirt. "Wh... what? You... you had a shield? A devil fruit?"I turned slowly, my sunglasses reflecting the terrified faces of the Marines. I reached down and picked up one of the flattened bullets. I held it between my thumb and forefinger and squeezed. The lead didn't just crumble; it turned into fine, grey dust that drifted away in the breeze."Is that all?" I asked. My voice wasn't loud, but it carried a weight that made the Marines' knees buckle. "I was hoping for a challenge. This didn't even tickle.""MONSTER!" Helmeppo shrieked, turning and bolting toward the main tower. "FATHER! DADDY! THERE'S A MONSTER IN THE YARD!"Zoro was staring at me, his mouth slightly open. "You... you took those point-blank. You didn't even use Haki. What the hell are you?""I'm Monkey D. Silver," I said, walking over to the cross. I reached out and gripped the heavy hemp ropes. With a thought, I didn't just pull them—I molecularly disintegrated the bonds. The ropes turned to ash, falling away as Zoro slumped forward.I caught him with one hand, his weight feeling like nothing. "Luffy, go find his swords. I think the bowl-cut kid mentioned they were in the tower.""GOT IT!" Luffy cheered, launching himself toward the third floor with a Gomu Gomu no Rocket.Five minutes later, the main doors of the tower exploded outward. Captain 'Axe-Hand' Morgan stepped into the sunlight. He was a titan of a man, his presence radiating a brutal, ego-driven mana. His right arm was a massive, blood-stained steel axe, and his jaw was a metal plate that gave him a permanent, horrific grin."Who dares to disrupt the peace of my base?!" Morgan roared, his eyes landing on me. "You! The white-haired brat! I heard you survived a firing squad. You must be a Devil Fruit user. But no fruit can withstand the edge of my justice!"He raised his axe-arm, the steel gleaming with a murderous light. "I am Captain Morgan! I built this base! I am the law! DIE!"He lunged, the massive axe-blade swinging in a vertical arc designed to cleave me in two.I didn't move. I didn't raise my arms to block. I simply stood there, looking him directly in the eye. Zoro, leaning against the wall with his newly returned swords, shouted a warning, but it was too late. The axe slammed into the crown of my head with the force of a falling building.SHATTER!The sound wasn't of flesh breaking, but of metal failing. The massive steel blade of the axe snapped into a dozen pieces, the shards flying back and embedding themselves in the stone walls behind Morgan. The Captain stood there, holding a jagged, broken handle, his arm vibrating from the shock of the impact.I didn't have a scratch. Not a single hair on my head was out of place."You call this justice?" I asked, my voice cold as the void. "A blunt tool for a blunt mind.""IMPOSSIBLE!" Morgan screamed, his eyes bloodshot. "I am a Marine Captain! I am the strongest man in the East Blue!""Strength isn't about the rank on your shoulder, Morgan," I said. I raised my hand, extending my middle finger. I pulled it back against my thumb, creating a tension that hummed with kinetic potential. "It's about the will behind the strike."I flicked my finger against Morgan's forehead.BOOM!A shockwave erupted from the point of contact, a literal sonic boom that shattered the windows of the Marine tower. Morgan didn't just fall; he was launched. He flew backward like a cannonball, crashing through the heavy stone gates, across the town square, and through the front doors of a tavern three blocks away. The Marines in the courtyard dropped their weapons as one. They fell to their knees, some weeping with relief, others paralyzed with fear."Captain Morgan... was defeated by a flick?" one Marine whispered."The tyranny is over," I announced. I turned to Coby, who was looking at me with something approaching religious awe. "Coby, this is your chance. Join the Marines. Be the kind of officer that actually protects people."Coby wiped his eyes, nodding fiercely. "I will! Silver-san! I promise!"Zoro walked up to me, sheathing his three blades. He looked at the broken shards of Morgan's axe, then back at me. "I don't know what kind of God-fruit you ate, Silver. But I think I made the right choice joining this crew. You're a freak.""I'll take that as a compliment," I laughed. I reached into my Silver Ring, pulling out three massive, perfectly seared Sea Beast steaks. The smell of high-quality meat filled the air instantly. "Now, let's get to the boat. We've got a navigator to find, and I'm starving."As we set sail, leaving a cheering town behind us, I looked at the sun. I could feel my power growing, the "Silver Superman" within me awakening further with every victory. The East Blue was just the beginning."Silver! Luffy!" Zoro called from the back of the boat. "Where are we actually going?""To a town of clowns and thieves," I said, my eyes fixed on the horizon. "And to the girl who will lead us to the Grand Line."
