Chapter 12 - the night that lovers have been waiting for so long

The Royal Entrance

The days raced by until the promised night arrived—the wedding of Abdullah and Rowan, the Romeo and Juliet of the twenty-first century. They didn't just look beautiful; they looked as if they had been born anew.

In Jordanian tradition, before entering the main hall, the couple spends time in a private studio. There, the photographer asked Abdullah to "pretend" to kiss Rowan for a shot. But Abdullah, either from excitement or selective hearing, skipped the "pretend" part. He leaned in and kissed her for real. Rowan, blushing deeply, whispered through her laughter, "She said 'act', man! Act, not kiss!" Abdullah, mischievous as ever, repeated the "act" only to kiss her once more, just to see that enchanting crimson glow on her cheeks again.

When Earth Meets Heaven

Abdullah entered the hall carried high on the shoulders of the staff, looking like a king from an ancient legend. Then, in a stunning artistic display, Rowan descended toward him—literally—as if an angel in white were dropping from the sky.

It was a moment of rare perfection: the King of Earth meeting the Queen of Heaven. The melodies soared, and the guests began to dance. Some young women bit their lips in envy at Rowan's beauty, unaware that Abdullah had already fortified his bride with verses from the Quran, protecting her from the "evil eye" and the whispers of jealousy.

Abdullah swept Rowan into his arms, spinning her around the hall just like the scenes in the old romantic movies they both loved.

The "Grand" Performance

Suddenly, the music cut out. The joy vanished, replaced by the sight of Abdullah standing tall, his face flushed with anger. He shouted at his bride for all to hear: "I won't allow you to speak that way! I won't let you say those things about my family!"

A wave of horror washed over the guests. The mothers of the bride and groom rushed forward, hearts pounding. Abdullah's aunt trembled, pleading, "Pray to the Prophet, my son! It's the evil eye! Calm down, please!" The atmosphere shifted from a celebration of love to a battlefield of sorrow. But then, the speakers roared back to life with the defiant beats of a famous Najwa Karam song:

"Your hand, your hand! Don't you dare wave your hands at me! Sit straight and talk to me properly... Calm down... Calm down!"

Abdullah and Rowan burst into uncontrollable laughter, moving in perfect sync to the rhythm. The "fight" had been nothing more than a theatrical prank designed to shock their audience. His aunt swatted his shoulder, half-crying, half-laughing, "May God forgive you! You made my knees buckle! Is this the time for such jokes, you troublemakers?" It was their gift to the crowd—a memory that ensured no one would ever forget the wedding of the century.

The Dream Fulfilled

Finally, the doors of the world closed behind them, and they entered their own private sanctuary. They prayed their prayers of gratitude, thanking God for bringing them together against all odds.

Abdullah placed his hand upon the forehead of his "Bronze Beloved" and recited the traditional blessing:

"O Allah, I ask You for the goodness within her and the goodness she was created with, and I seek refuge in You from any evil within her or any evil she was created with."

And there, in the quiet of their new home, they began the first chapter of their life together—a life built on a foundation of faith, a dash of mischief, and a love that refused to be silenced by poverty or pride.
