Chapter 3 - Hysilens: I Know the Power of the Sea

Boom! Boom! Boom—!

Cerydra and Hysilens stood amidst the snow, looking together toward the monsters charging from the distance.

Thirty minutes passed since their arrival in the world known as Akame ga Kill!. In this brief window, neither encountered a single living soul—until the arrival of these beasts.

"Are those... Danger Beasts?"

Gazing at the creatures rushing toward them, Cerydra showed no sign of panic. Instead, she toyed with the scepter in her hand, seemingly indifferent to the looming threat.

This composure was only natural. She was no longer Nameless; she was the Imperator, Cerydra! As the ruler of Okhema, she never displayed unseemly behavior, radiating her royal majesty at every turn. Even a Super-Class Danger Beast at the pinnacle of the food chain could not make her falter, let alone these weaklings whose strength was barely worth a glance.

Opponents of this caliber required no personal intervention from Cerydra. And so...

"Dux Gladiorium, I leave them to you."

Her tone was casual, as if asking a family member to pass a napkin, devoid of any emotional fluctuation. Cerydra turned away then, pondering her and Hysilens' next move without bothering to watch.

At that moment, the girl in the black dress stepped in front of Cerydra, directly facing the pack of oncoming Danger Beasts.

This was Hysilens.

She gave no verbal response to Cerydra but silently executed the order, exactly as she did when first meeting the Trailblazer in the original lore. As Caesar's knight, Hysilens might struggle with book learning, but her combat prowess and execution were top-tier.

Unlike the turned-away Caesar, Hysilens' gaze sharpened, pinning the beasts in the snow within her sight.

"Shaped like dinosaurs, with jagged ridges on their backs..."

Such creatures did not exist in the real world. So this was a Danger Beast of a fantasy realm? This was certainly the first time a transmigrator fought such a thing, but she was more than just a transmigrator.

[Optimal Partner Role-Playing System]

While the pressure of playing two people simultaneously was immense, the compensation for the role-play was the acquisition of their powers at their zenith. Right now, they were:

Demigod of Law, Cerydra.

Demigod of the Sea, Hysilens.

As Chrysos Heirs and Demigods of the world of Amphoreus, both possessed extraordinary strength. Cerydra might be slightly less combat-oriented—being a King, not a soldier—but Hysilens was different. Even in the world of Akame ga Kill!, she stood at the peak among the strong. These Danger Beasts posed no threat.

Still, would it not be a waste to squander such a rare combat opportunity?

Of course!

These Danger Beasts were weak, but they served as sufficient kindling to test Hysilens' strength.

As Hysilens steeled herself, twin longswords flickered into her hands. One hilt rested against her shoulder while she lightly flicked the blade of the other. The movement seemed entirely unrelated to combat; she looked more like a violinist performing on stage.

This was Hysilens' Secret Technique: At Ocean's Abode. It could release a domain that infatuated enemies, granting extra effects once combat began.

Naturally, that was a game mechanic. How would it manifest in reality? Would her other abilities function the same? To avoid accidents in future battles against humans, Hysilens needed to test her power. These mindless Danger Beasts, possessing only raw strength, were the perfect targets.

When the water-blue conch orb flew toward the dozen dinosaur-like beasts, Hysilens noticed their movement speed drop visibly. As they neared the orb, their expressions shifted.

If Hysilens was the violinist, these beasts became an excellent audience. Their faces showed looks of intoxication, as if enjoying the faint sound vibrating from the conch. Their movements slowed to a crawl.

In the eyes of a warrior like Hysilens, such an opening was fatal!

'Aeolian Mode: Echoes in Still Waters'

In the game, this was Hysilens' basic attack. The girl glided over the water as if performing a graceful dance, utilizing her twin blades to deliver a cross-spinning slash.

One must admit, Hysilens—whether in the game or the lore—stood in a league of her own regarding elegance, rivaling even the romantic Demigod Aglaea.

Despite the beauty of the dance, in Hysilens' hands, it became a lethal meat grinder. The repeated spiral slashes turned her basic attack into a lingering "Echo-cho-cho-cho..."

While this strike claimed many lives, Hysilens intentionally spared a few under her control. After all, she still had moves to test.

Sensing the mortal peril, the remaining Danger Beasts fled desperately. Though their intelligence was low, Hysilens' "reminder" made them realize this human was not something they could handle. Little did they know, their flight was exactly what Hysilens intended.

'Maelstrom Rhapsody'

Hysilens played her music once more. A massive whale composed of seawater materialized behind her, opening its cavernous maw toward the fleeing beasts.

Danger Beasts that spent their lives on the frozen tundra never saw such a sight. Terrified shrieks erupted from their throats, but under the surging waves, those sounds ultimately sank into the deep sea, unheard by anyone.

"So this is the power of the 'Sea'?"

The battle ended quickly—a total, one-sided crush. Yet both Cerydra and Hysilens noticed a problem through this encounter.

The System gave her their powers, but not the entirety of them. Instead, it felt like a combination of specific lore abilities and game templates. Although she possessed great combat capability, the lack of the characters' original memories meant she could only perform certain fixed movements. She lacked the ability to improvise and the unique combat instincts belonging only to a seasoned warrior.

Cerydra understood the lack of memory. If she possessed the original memories, what would be left to "play"? The System's function would be redundant. Thus, it only provided self-defense capabilities and required her to role-play based on her knowledge of the characters, leaving her to develop the rest herself.

"This is quite fair," Cerydra remarked.

However, just as Cerydra and Hysilens finished cleaning the battlefield and prepared to leave, an ice-blue figure quietly approached. She held a blade in her mouth, like a predator about to strike...
