No one in the town of Silverwood talked about the Harrington Mansion anymore. The house stood at the far end of the town, surrounded by tall trees and a rusted iron gate that had not been opened for years. The windows were broken, the paint had faded, and the wind often made the doors creak in the silence of the night. But what made the mansion truly mysterious was the story connected to it. Twenty-five years ago, the famous detective Edward Harrington
disappeared from that very house. He had been working on the most important case of his career-a case that involved missing people ,strange symbols, and secrets hidden throughout the Day. According to the police,Harrington was only one clue away from solving the mystery. But before he could reveal the truth…he vanished. No body was ever found. No explanation was ever given. And the case was never solved. Poeple believed that Harrington had hidden his final clue somewhere in the mansion. But no one was brave enough to search for it Except for Rohan.
Rohan had grown up hearing stories about Harrington. To him, the detective was not just a legend—he was an inspiration. So when Rohan turned seventeen,he decided to do something no one else had dared to do. He would enter Harrington mansion and find the last hudden clue.
The evening he chose for his investigation was cold and foggy. As Rohan pushed open the rusty gate,it groaned loudly as if warning him to turn back. But he kept walking. The mansion looked even more frightening up close. The tall doors were slightly open, and the wind moved through the dark hallways like whispers. Inside dust covered everything .old paintings hung crooked on the walls and broken furniture lag scattered across the floor.
Rohan turned on his flashlight and stepped carefully into the living room. "This is it," he whispered. "This is where Harrington worked."
On one wall hung a giant map of silverwood, filled with red marks and circles. Harrington must have been using it to track clues. Rohan walked closer. One of the circles was drawn around the mansion itself. "That's strange,"he murmured.
Why would Harrington mark his own house?
Suddenly, Rohan noticed something else. On the table near the map was an old notebook. The pages were filled with notes, diagrams and mysterious codes. Rohan flipped through the notebook quickly, then he reached the last page. Written in bold letters were the words: "the final truth lies where the shadows never move" Rohan frowned. What does that even mean? "He looked around the room. Shadows were everywhere because of the broken windows and flickering light from his flashlight. But Harrington had written shadows that never move. That means something permanent something fixed. Rohan suddenly remembered the old clock hanging in the hallway. It had stopped working years ago. It's shadow would never move. He ran towards the hallway and pointed his flashlight. At the clock. The large wooden clock stood silently against the wall, its hand frozen at 9:17. Rohan examined it carefully. At first, nothing seemed unusual. Then he noticed a tiny scratch near the bottom of the clock. It looked like an arrow. Curious, he posted gently against the wooden panel. Click. A small hidden compartment. Inside was a folded piece of paper. Rohan's heart reached. This must be it, "he said "The last hidden ", he carefully unfolded the paper. But what he read made his hands. scramble. The message said: if you are reading this, it means you have found the final clue. But the truth is far more dangerous than you imagine. ", Rohan continued reading. Inverted, the people disappearing in this town were not victims of a criminal…. They were victims of something hidden, be. Silver wood. Rohan's eyes widened. Beneath Silverwood ? The message continued.", The man was built on top of an underground tunnel system located over 100 years ago. These tunnels connected to every part of the town ", Rohan felt children down his spine. If that was true, someone could more anywhere in the town without being seen. The note ended with one final sentence. "The entrance is hidden in the basement. I am going there tonight to uncover the truth" And below, that was a date. the same date, Edward Harrington disappeared. Rohan's heart pounded, so Harrington has discovered the tunnels… But something must have happened down there. Something terrible. Without thinking twice, Rohan walked towards the basement door. It creaked loudly as he opened it. The stairs, leading downward dark and covered with dust. Each step echo in the silence when Rohan reached the bottom, he saw something shocking. The basement wall had been broken open. Behind it was a narrow tunnel. Cold air flooded out of the darkness. Rohan pointed his flashlight inside. The tunnel stretched far into the Earth. He hesitated for a moment, then he stepped inside. The deeper he walked, the quieter everything . After a few minutes, the tunnel opened into a larger underground chamber. And there, in the Centre of the room… Was a skeleton. Next to it, an old flashlight and a Detective badge. Rohan felt his stomach drop. The badge read: Edward Harrington. So the detective had found the tunnels… But he never made it out. Rohan looked around the Chembai carefully. Then he noticed something else. Another message scratched into the wall beside the skeleton. The words were faint but still readable. "The tunnels are not empty, just then, Rohan heard a sound. A slow echoing footstep. Somewhere deeper in the tunnel. His flashlight trembled in his hands. Another step echo. Then another. Rohan realised something terrifying. Edward Harrington. Had not been chasing a criminal. He had been chasing something much dark. Hiding beneath the town. And now… Rohan had found the last hidden clue. But the mystery of Silverwood was far from over. Because whatever lived in those tunnels… had just heard him. 🔍
