In the royal palace of the Holfort Kingdom, the heightened tension ignited like wildfire. Queen Mylene, in a desperate bid to expose Aqua Redgrave's true nature and shatter his unshakeable composure, had transformed the Royal Palace into an impregnable fortress.
Knights patrolled every corridor.
Mana-sensing wards hummed at every entrance.
The skies above the royal quarter were restricted airspace—"identification verification protocols," the official decree called it.
A response to the recent pirate attacks, they said.
A necessary precaution for the safety of the royal family.
Few knew the truth. The Queen was trying to keep Aqua Redgrave out.
She had failed.
Aqua materialized in the secluded corner of the palace garden like a ghost shedding its shroud.
He pulled the Invisibility Cloak from his body and folded it into his System Space where it hung suspended, waiting for its next use.
Queen Mylene's "identification verification" was a joke to him.
He'd walked past her finest knights, through her most sensitive wards, and into the heart of her daughter's sanctuary without a single alarm.
The only trace of his passage was the faint displacement of air and the soft rustle of rose petals disturbed by his boots.
He was already inside. He had always been inside.
"Aqua-kun?!"
Princess Erica Rapha Holfort nearly dropped her paintbrush.
She felt the presence behind her before she saw him, a warmth at her shoulder, a familiar scent of sandalwood and something darker, something that made her pulse quicken against her will.
His hand settled on her shoulder, light but possessive, as he leaned in to observe her canvas.
Her face erupted in crimson.
She lunged forward, covering the painting with both arms, her platinum blonde hair spilling over the wet oils in her haste.
"Don't look! It's embarrassing!"
The painting was of him, of course.
His profile against the window.
She'd been unable to get his face out of her mind—the way he'd smiled at her despite his grief, the way he'd promised they'd be a "great team."
She'd painted him as a prince from a fairy tale, all sharp jaw and kind eyes.
She knew it was foolish.
She was a reincarnator.
She knew this world was an otome game. She knew Aqua Redgrave wasn't in the original script.
He was an anomaly.
A glitch.
A variable that shouldn't exist.
And yet, when he looked at her with those intense blue eyes, she forgot everything.
The meta-knowledge. The self-preservation.
The quiet voice in her head that whispered: This isn't right. This isn't safe. This man is dangerous.
Aqua shrugged, a lazy smirk playing at his lips, and didn't tease her further. He settled onto the marble bench at the center of the garden, crossing one leg over the other with the casual arrogance.
The afternoon sun caught his features—the sharp line of his jaw, the way his blonde hair fell across his forehead, the quiet confidence in his posture.
Erica's heart stuttered.
She stopped pretending to paint and turned to face him fully, her hands clasped nervously in her lap.
"Uhm, Aqua-kun... are you not leaving yet?" she asked, her voice small and uncertain, like a child caught doing something she shouldn't.
"No," Aqua replied simply, his tone unhurried. "I came for you. Not because your father called me. Let him wait."
He shrugged, utterly unconcerned about keeping the king of Holfort waiting like an impatient merchant. "Moreover, it seems he wants to offer your hand in marriage to me. What do you think, Erica?"
"That..." Erica stammered, her face flushing an even deeper shade of crimson.
She fumbled for words, her mouth opening and closing like a fish gasping for air.
What could she possibly say to that?
She looked at him shyly from beneath her lashes, her heart hammering so loudly she was certain he could hear it.
"Is Father truly serious about this, Aqua? Mother seems... she seems strongly opposed. I don't know if this is going to work. I don't know if we are going to work."
She was rambling now, the words spilling out in a nervous, breathless torrent.
Something about the way he looked at her—calm, patient, utterly unbothered by her anxiety—made her want to fill the silence, to explain herself, to justify her existence in his presence.
Aqua listened to her ramble with an expression of patient amusement.
When she finally ran out of words, he spoke, his voice soft but absolute.
"She did all of that. The blockades. The wards. The 'identification verification.' She turned the palace into a fortress specifically to keep me away from you."
He leaned forward, and suddenly the space between them felt impossibly small.
His eyes locked onto hers, and something shifted in the air between them.
A sudden, intense heat bloomed deep in Erica's core, spreading like liquid fire through her veins.
Her face flushed crimson.
Her breathing became shallow and quick.
She felt her nipples stiffen against the silk of her dress, and a slick, embarrassing warmth began to gather between her thighs.
[Mystic Eyes of Lust activated.]
[Target: Erica Rapha Holfort.]
[Resistance: Negligible.]
"And yet," Aqua murmured, his voice a velvet promise, "it couldn't stop me from meeting you, Princess."
The words hit her like warm honey poured directly into her bloodstream.
She felt heat pool low in her belly, a tingling awareness that spread through her limbs and settled between her thighs.
She didn't understand what was happening to her body.
She was a princess. She was educated. She knew about desire, about the mechanics of attraction.
But this... this was something else.
This was a fire she couldn't control, a hunger she couldn't name.
What's wrong with me?
She thought desperately.
Why am I so weak in front of him?
But the thought was distant, muffled, drowned out by the pounding of her heart and the warmth radiating from his proximity.
He lifted her chin with a single finger, tilting her face up to meet his.
His touch was gentle but firm, leaving no room for retreat.
His eyes—those impossibly blue eyes—searched hers for a moment, and whatever he found there made his smirk soften into something almost tender.
Then he kissed her.
His lips claimed hers with a possessive confidence that stole her breath.
She made a small, surprised sound against his mouth—a muffled mmph—but she didn't pull away. She couldn't pull away.
Her body had locked into place, passive and trembling, as his tongue pressed past her lips and into the warm, wet sanctuary of her mouth.
He tasted like mint and something darker.
Something addictive.
His hand slid from her chin to the back of her neck, cradling her head as he deepened the kiss.
His other hand traced a slow, deliberate path down her spine—over the silk of her garden dress, past the small of her back, lower and lower until his palm came to rest on the curve of her buttock.
He squeezed.
Gently at first.
Then firmly.
Possessively.
Erica moaned into his mouth.
The sound escaped before she could stop it, a breathy, needy thing that she barely recognized as her own voice. Her hands, which had been frozen at her sides, rose instinctively to grip the front of his jacket—not to push him away, but to hold herself steady as the world tilted on its axis.
This is wrong, a distant part of her mind whispered.
You barely know him. Mother hates him. He's dangerous. This isn't the otome game script. This isn't how it's supposed to go.
But her body wasn't listening to that voice.
Her body was arching into his touch, pressing closer, craving more.
She pushed against his chest—not hard, but enough to break the seal of their lips.
A thin, glistening string of saliva connected their mouths for a heartbeat before snapping.
She was panting, her chest rising and falling rapidly, her eyes wide and glassy.
"Aqua-kun..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "My body feels... weird. Hot. Like there's something wrong with me."
Aqua chuckled, the sound low and warm.
He reached up and caressed her platinum blonde hair, his fingers combing through the silken strands with a gentleness that contrasted sharply with the possessive grip he'd had on her ass moments ago.
"That's love, I guess," he said, his tone light, almost teasing.
Erica's eyes narrowed, a spark of her royal dignity flickering through the haze of lust. "I don't think so, Aqua-kun. I'm not naïve. I've read... I mean, I know what attraction feels like. This is different. This is..."
She trailed off, unable to articulate the overwhelming need pulsing through her veins.
Aqua said nothing.
He just continued stroking her hair, watching her with those patient, knowing eyes.
Erica took a shaky breath and tried to regain control of the situation. "Anyway... you should go meet my father. He's been waiting for you for a long time. I don't want the two of you to—"
Before she could finish, Aqua placed a single finger against her lips, silencing her.
"Hush," he murmured. "Your father can wait, Princess."
The casual dismissal of the King—again—made her stomach flip.
He leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. "Can I kiss you again?"
Her face burned.
Her heart hammered.
Every rational thought in her head screamed NO—RUN—THIS IS DANGEROUS.
She nodded shyly.
Her eyes fluttered closed, her lashes dark against her flushed cheeks.
She tilted her face up, lips slightly parted, waiting.
Offering.
Consenting.
Aqua didn't hesitate.
He kissed her for the second time, and this time, there was nothing passive about her response.
Her arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him closer.
Her body pressed against his, seeking his warmth, molding to the hard planes of his chest.
She kissed him back with a desperate, hungry urgency—tongue meeting tongue, breath mingling, hands gripping fabric and hair and skin.
She moaned into his mouth, and this time she didn't care who heard.
The garden around them seemed to fade—the bioluminescent flowers, the floating water features, the distant sound of palace guards patrolling corridors they didn't realize had already been breached.
There was only him.
Only this.
Only the fire he'd ignited in her blood and the terrifying, exhilarating certainty that she would let him do anything to her.
When they finally broke apart, both breathing hard, Erica's lips were swollen and red.
Her eyes were dazed, unfocused, lost in a fog of desire she didn't fully understand.
Aqua smiled—a slow, satisfied curve of his lips—and tucked a strand of platinum blonde hair behind her ear.
"Your father can wait a little longer," he said, his voice a low rumble. "I'm not finished with you yet, Princess."
Erica shivered.
She didn't tell him to leave.
