"Xavier, you can't!" Derek yelled, grabbing the hem of my shirt to halt my movement. His eyes pleaded at me like he knew exactly what I was about to do.
I sighed ruefully before I slapped his hand away, but he refused to let ho. I slanted my eyes at him. I let my wolf take over, pinning him down in golden eyes that dared him to challenge me again. He quickly released his hold on me.
I chuckled softly despite the turmoil within me. Despite the friendship between us, he knew when to draw the line, and for me, that was enough.
"Get that parcel to whoever is delivering it," I ordered him. I grounded him under my stare. "Know that if you fail in this task, there will be hell to pay for," I assured him.
He looked like he wanted to protest for a few seconds, but then he nodded. He turned and walked in the opposite direction of my path.
