Chapter 2 - Whispers in the Corridor

The corridor of Green Valley High School was never truly silent. Even when classes were going on, faint sounds of footsteps, laughter, and distant voices echoed through the long hallway. But for Riya, the corridor held secrets—small moments that felt special, almost magical.

Every day during the short break, students rushed out of their classrooms. The corridor filled with chatter and excitement. Riya usually stood near the notice board, pretending to read announcements while waiting for her best friend.

But lately, something had changed.

Across the corridor, Arjun often stood near the classroom door with his friends. Sometimes their eyes met for a second, and both quickly looked away. It was a strange feeling—like a quiet conversation without words.

One afternoon, while everyone was heading back to class, Riya accidentally dropped her notebook. Papers scattered across the floor.

Before she could pick them up, someone bent down and helped her gather them.

"Here," a gentle voice said.

It was Arjun.

"Thank you," Riya replied, a little surprised.

After that day, they started noticing each other more. Sometimes they exchanged small smiles while passing in the corridor. Sometimes they talked for a few minutes during breaks.

Their conversations were simple—about homework, teachers, exams, and school events. But somehow those small talks felt important.

Soon, the corridor became their favorite place to meet.

Near the end of the hallway, there was a window where sunlight always poured in during the afternoon. That spot slowly turned into their quiet corner. They shared stories, dreams about the future, and even their worries about exams.

To others, it was just another part of the school.

But for them, it was where their friendship quietly grew into something deeper.

However, as the final year passed quickly, everyone started talking about college and new beginnings. The thought of leaving school made the corridor feel different.

On the last day of school, students were busy saying goodbye and taking pictures.

Riya walked slowly through the corridor one last time. The memories of laughter, conversations, and quiet moments filled her mind.

Suddenly, she heard someone call her name.

"Riya."

She turned around. Arjun was standing there, smiling.

"I was hoping to see you here," he said.

Riya laughed softly. "I guess the corridor still has its whispers."

Arjun nodded. "Maybe those whispers are just memories… reminding us that some friendships never really end."

And as they walked out of the corridor together, they both knew one thing:

Some stories begin quietly—with just a few whispers in the corridor. ❤️📖
