Chapter 1 - 1

The island smelled like salt and something older.

Kai stood on the beach, sandals half-buried in wet sand, staring at the treeline like it owed him an explanation.

He had been here for three days now.

Three days of wandering this unnamed island in the middle of nowhere, eating whatever fruit he could find, sleeping under trees, and doing the one thing he had been doing since the moment he opened his eyes in this world.

Calling out for his system.

"System."

Silence.

"Hey. System." He crossed his arms. "I know you're there. Every isekai guy gets one. That's literally how it works."

A bird flew overhead. That was the only response he got.

He groaned and dropped onto the sand, lying flat on his back, staring up at the open sky. The sun was warm. The waves were peaceful. Under any other circumstances it would have been a perfect afternoon.

But Kai was not here for a vacation.

He had died — or something close to it. The memory was blurry at the edges, the way dreams always are when you try to hold onto them too hard. One moment he was in his world. The next he was face down on a beach in a world he recognized immediately, because he had read every volume and watched every episode more times than he could count.

The One Piece world.

He had shot up from the sand the moment he realized it and started sprinting in no particular direction, half laughing, half panicking.

Then the reality set in. No ship. No map. No money. No devil fruit. No crew. No anything.

And no system.

That was the part that stung.

He sat up now, brushing sand off the back of his head, and tried one more time with complete sincerity.

"Listen." He pressed both hands together, looking at the sky like he was praying. "I am begging you. I got isekai'd. That means I'm supposed to get something. A skill. A power. A cheat of some kind. I'm not asking for much. Anything works. I'll take anything. Please."

The wind moved through the trees.

The waves rolled in and pulled back out.

And then —

*DING.*

Kai froze.

The sound rang through his skull like a bell struck at the center of the universe, clean and deep and resonating in his bones. His eyes went wide. He stopped breathing for a full two seconds.

Then he exhaled slowly.

"...There you are."

A notification materialized in front of his eyes, hanging in the air like light given shape, visible only to him. The letters were clean and gold against a dark background, formal and ancient-feeling all at once.

---

*[ SYSTEM DETECTED — HOST CONFIRMED ]*

*A system has chosen you as its host.*

*Do you wish to bind?*

*[ YES ] [ NO ]*

---

Kai stared at it for exactly half a second.

"YES."

He didn't even blink. His hand shot out and pressed the confirmation before the word had fully left his mouth. He had been waiting three days for this. There was no universe in which he was hitting No.

The gold light pulsed.

Then it expanded, washing over him in a wave he could feel but not describe — not warmth exactly, not cold, something deeper than temperature. Something that touched the part of him that existed underneath skin and bone and blood. Like something fundamental had just shifted into place.

---

*[ BINDING COMPLETE ]*

*Welcome, Host.*

*The Vampire Primogenitor System has selected you.*

*Before full activation, the system presents you with a choice.*

---

Kai read those words twice.

"A choice," he said out loud.

---

*[ OPTION A ]*

*Inherit the Blood of the Vampire Primogenitor.*

*Become the True Ancestor. The First. The Origin of all vampiric existence.*

*Ether Class Bloodline. Sovereign authority over all vampires.*

*Growth limit: Infinite.*

*[ OPTION B ]*

*Decline. Receive an alternative path.*

---

He read Option A.

He read it again.

Then he looked at Option B for about as long as it takes to blink.

"Vampire Primogenitor," he said slowly, tasting the words. "Ether Class. True Ancestor. Sovereign over all vampires." He paused. "Infinite growth limit."

He looked at Option B one more time.

"Yeah, no."

*[ OPTION A SELECTED ]*

*Are you certain? This path cannot be undone.*

"Brother, I have been lying on a beach for three days eating wild mangoes and begging the sky for a cheat code." He selected confirm without hesitation. "I am very certain."

---

*[ CONFIRMED ]*

*Initiating Ether Class Bloodline Transfer.*

*Vampire Primogenitor System — ONLINE.*

---

Then the pain hit.

Not the sharp kind. Not the kind that makes you scream. It was deeper than that — the kind that rewrites. Kai felt it move through him from the inside, like every cell in his body was being disassembled and rebuilt from a different blueprint. His veins felt like they were carrying something heavier than blood. Something older. Something that predated the world he was standing in.

He dropped to one knee in the sand, one hand pressed to the ground, breathing steadily through his teeth.

*Don't panic*, he told himself. *This is the upgrade sequence. This is normal. This is fine.*

His reflection caught in the wet sand below him during a moment the wave receded.

He looked up.

Then he looked again, slower.

His face was the same — same features, same expression — but something about it had sharpened. Like everything soft had been refined. Like a sculptor had gone back over work they already loved and made it perfect. His eyes carried a depth they hadn't before, dark and still like water over something ancient.

He blinked.

He looked, if he was being honest with himself, unreasonably good.

"Okay," he said quietly. "Okay. That's a bonus."

The system chimed again.

---

*[ VAMPIRE PRIMOGENITOR STATUS — ACTIVE ]*

*All weaknesses devoured.*

*Sovereign Chain Law established.*

*Daily Sign-In System — ONLINE.*

*System Inventory — ONLINE.*

*Growth limit: ∞*

*Welcome, Primogenitor.*

---

Kai stood up slowly, brushing sand from his knee.

He felt different. Not heavy, not light — *more*. Like he had been operating at a fraction of what existence could feel like, and now the full picture had come into focus. The island around him felt smaller. The sky felt closer. He could hear things he hadn't been able to before — the heartbeat of something in the treeline, the current beneath the waves, the distant creak of wood on water.

He turned toward the sea.

There was a ship on the horizon.

A small one. Distinctive shape. He knew that silhouette.

His eyebrows went up.

"No way."

He stood very still, watching it grow larger as it approached the island. The Merry's wooden figurehead became visible first, then the sails, then the crew moving on deck.

Kai's mouth pulled into a slow grin.

The Straw Hats.

He was on Baratie island. He recognized it now — he had been so focused on the system he hadn't pieced together the geography. This was the moment the crew was picking up Sanji. Which meant the timeline was right at the beginning of everything.

He had landed exactly where he needed to be.

He reached up and ran a hand through his hair once, straightening himself out.

He had a Primogenitor system online. He had a status that made the world's greatest fighters look like warm-up exercises. He had infinite growth potential and three daily rewards dropping into his inventory starting tomorrow.

And right now, sailing directly toward this beach, was the crew he had always wanted to sail with.

Kai put his hands in his pockets and walked toward the water's edge, easy and unhurried, watching the Going Merry come in.

*Alright*, he thought.

*Let's see if I can impress a rubber man.*
