Chapter 18: Learning to Trust Again
After their conversation at the festival in Delhi, Ariana didn't immediately give Arman an answer.
Too much had happened in the past.
Too many memories still hurt.
But Arman didn't leave.
Instead, he stayed in Delhi for a few more days, patiently waiting for her decision.
One evening Ariana agreed to meet him in a quiet park near the festival venue.
"You're still here," she said.
"I told you," Arman replied gently. "I'm not running away again."
Ariana looked at him carefully.
"You broke my trust once."
"I know."
"And trust doesn't return easily."
Arman nodded.
"I'm ready to earn it back."
For the first time in years, Ariana saw the same sincerity in his eyes that she had once seen in the university garden of Kolkata.
Maybe people really could change.
Maybe love could survive even after time and distance.
"I'm not promising anything," Ariana said softly.
"But… we can start as friends again."
Arman smiled.
"That's more than I hoped for."
Chapter 19: A New Chapter
Over the next few months, Ariana and Arman stayed in touch.
They talked often—sometimes about books, sometimes about life, and sometimes about the past they both remembered.
Slowly, the distance between them began to disappear.
Arman even visited Ariana's hometown in Kolkata.
The first place they went together was the old university library.
The same table where they first met was still there.
Ariana laughed softly.
"It all started here."
Arman nodded.
"And I almost lost everything because I didn't fight hard enough."
But this time things were different.
Arman had changed.
He stood up to his father and decided to live his own life.
For the first time, their love didn't feel fragile anymore.
It felt real.
Chapter 20: When Hearts Remember
One year later.
Ariana stood on a stage at another literary event in Delhi.
Her new novel had just been released.
The title of the book was "When Hearts Remember."
It was the story of two people who lost each other but found their way back.
After the event ended, Ariana walked outside.
Arman was waiting there.
Just like he had been one year ago.
But this time there was no sadness between them.
Only warmth.
Arman held a small box in his hand.
"Ariana," he said nervously.
"Yes?"
"I made a mistake once by leaving you."
Ariana smiled slightly.
"But you came back."
Arman opened the small box, revealing a ring.
"This time… I want to stay forever."
People around them watched quietly as Ariana's eyes filled with tears.
She remembered the girl who once sat alone in a library writing stories about love.
She had never believed those stories could become real.
But now they had.
"Yes," she said softly.
And just like that, their story finally reached its happy ending.
Because sometimes…
Even after years of silence—
Hearts still remember where they belong.
